The hotel is a glass modern structure that makes you look out instead of in. On the main floor there are very few walls to allow a view to the dunes and nature outside as much as possible. The food is very good, the breakfast buffet is over the top and there is no reason to leave the resort unless...

This is a very trendy, zen environment. The building is a Y shape, with all rooms having views of the ocean and dunes. The look is very modern and the rooms have clean lines. The staff is amazing. The food at either restaurants is exceptional. Stayed 4 nights and could have stayed longer. An outstanding experience.

11 of us stayed here for a long weekend of golf and tennis. The modern design wasn't to everyone's taste but most of us loved it. The rooms are incredibly spacious and well designed with a separate work area. Service was excellent and the breakfasts (which were our only meal at the hotel) were great. The location is spectacular and...

If there is one hotel in Portugal which you should NOT!! visit: than it is the Oitavos! They cannot handle groups. They do not stick to what they have commited to and - worst: they think that their behaviour is normal. We ordered veal and for the same price we got porc. We order fisch and we got minced meat....

Normally I never eat in a hotel-restaurant but here you can order chefs table and that means you can eat in THE Kitchen of THE hotel and you eat what THE chef gives you.We ate many dishes at first quality good at VERY reasonable prices. You can't go wrong.

When you see the owner around the hotel, berating a member of staff for not aligning the pool furniture correctly, whilst ignoring the fact that they guy on the next table (me) has sent his lunch back three times, and after an hour is still waiting for a simple order, you quickly realise that somewhere, someone has got their priorities...

Overall great hotel, reliable concierge services, good food, minimalist but nicely executed rooms with mindblowing views. While we were at the hotel, the only real downside was the fact that the spa area was undergoing renovation. Restaurant was at a level expected of a premium contemporary design hotel. More or less everything seemed to be working very well, but admittedly...

Notwithstanding other reviews around service quality, we really enjoyed our stay here. Generally the service was good even if the pool bar was a bit slower but we didn't care. We wanted to chill out & the pool area was great for relaxing & enjoying the amazing view out to the Atlantic. Yes, agree about the wifi - it definitely...

My wife and I absolutely love modern architecture, big spaces, minimalist design and this hotel as it all! Superb location with great views over the pine trees down to the Atlantic, the outside space by the bar and down to the pool is also clean, modern and very appealing. The bedroom, bathroom, balcony and in room facilities are all up...

After a very early morning start we, my daughter and I, arrived at this hotel , were checked in and then waylaid by a woman with a clipboard. We thought she was selling us something , so we declined, only to be told that she was a reservations person , that they had had a fault on their system when...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Inspired by the timeless beauty of the Atlantic coast, The Oitavos seeks to embrace rather than compete with nature. Its bold design, sleek lines and elegantly simple interiors focus attention outwards – on the historical and natural elements of the grounds and the drama and romance of the Atlantic Ocean. A stunning blue colour palate will cool your senses, blending with the colours of the sea and the violets of the flowers dotted across the landscape. Contemporary sculpture and paintings by Portuguese artists will enrapture against the white canvas. ... more   less
