Firstly the resort itself is lovely, beautiful grounds, big spacious rooms, and the staff are all very helpful and friendly. Went with my boys aged 9 & 7 who loved it BUT - the main pool, which is the nicest area to be in the daytime, is unheated and just way too cold! This meant we didn’t want to hang out there so ended up at the kids playground area where there is a small heated pool but has nowhere comfortable for adults to sit...all in all we had a good time but wouldn’t go back unless the main pool was heated as it made a big difference to the holiday

Hotel's Favourite
Probably the best hotel in cascais and lisbon if you want to get distance from the city Kids area is the cherry on top of tge cake, on the outdoor: trampoline, castle, open space, ping pong, 2 sand playground, 2 heated swimming pools. Indoor there is a kids club where u can drop off the kids with the animator (9.30 a.m), plenty of toys and games. Ana and Diogo do a great job (my daughter was crying for the 1st 5min, after that, playing all time),  Room is great, high standard, nothing to improve, amazing bathroom, great bed, balcony, nespresso... but the 2 mattress could be better connected (to minimize the space between). Breakfast: due to covid19 we did not experience the buffet option, was kind of pre ordered plus a la carte, however it was delicious! Whole complex is absolutely perfect. We had a 3 years old kid so our tine was around the kids area, but the other swimming pools for adults/relax, look amazing.  Not good enough: the reservations team in sagres, they misslead some information, gave us higher rate (vs agoda, then corrected it) weren't sure what was free or additional charge... they need to do better for a 5 stars hotel. Nuno and Constança at the reception were very friendly and helpful, top service. Next summer i am back Thank you for amazing holidays

Feeling very disappointed by our first trip away in nearly 2 years. On the positive side - Martinhal staff were very friendly and helpful throughout our stay, the facilities including the main pool and playground were very good and perfect for our 9 year old. The disappointment comes with the fact that our villa (number 5) was opposite a building site. The building work didn't start to get noisy until after 9am and stopped by 5pm but its very off putting to walk past workmen and vans every day and it didn't look very pleasing. We were not informed of the work before we booked and paid a lot of money for our villa. We were not informed of the work at check in either and this work really tarnished our stay at Martinhal. Secondly but almost more important was the food. It was very average and over priced. The deserts were the highlight for the kids but towards the end of our trip we got taxi's into town to eat in local restaurants which was much much better than the hotel food and half the price. In retrospect I think Martinhal is much better for families with very young children (we also have 2 teenagers) but it lets its self down with the food. We would never stay within this chain as a result of our experience this time.

Beautiful resort in a pine forest close to the beach. Excellent facilities for kids and adults alike. So much to do and have fun without even leaving the resort. Tennis, golf steps from the hotel. Superb restaurants onsite also. We will be back!
