We stayed for 3 nights at this hotel and we were very satisfied with the facilities and helpfulness of the hotel staff. The hotel is above the Baixa-Chiado metro station. There is no noise, however, from the Metro. Hotel reception were very helpful. Our room was spacious and in a good state of decoration. The room faced the street but...

Hotel do Chiado is ideally located in the Chiado district. In easy walking distance to the Baixa and Alto Districts with a Metro station within minutes from its doors. Lots of amazing restuarants, bars, coffee houses and shops in the neighbourhood. The very best Lisbon has to offer. The view from the rooftop terrace, breakfast room and many of the bedrooms is...

Incredible views of the castle the cathedral and the rivers. And out host Doigo was great at sharing great wine. the wine and charcuterie plate was great. The alcohol drinks are expensive but the wine is so so cheap. Order a bottle.

I booked a double room for a four night stay, including breakfast. The room was spacious, the bed comfortable, the bathroom large with a bidet I didn't use but lots of counter space for makeup. The aircon worked well but this was February with temperatures warm (to me), of 17 degrees, but not sweltering. The staff were reserved but helpful...

My wife and I wanted to commend Sofia who is working as a trainee at the front desk. We had problems in printing out our boarding passes for Ryanair, and she fixed it all for us. Nothing was too much trouble, and all done with a smile. Obrigada!

We stayed in this lovely hotel for 4 nights from 28th December to 1st January. Our spotless clean, large spacious room was on the 7th floor with its own terrace and amazing view over Lisbon and the river. We had an extremely satisfying meal in the restaurant, also on the seventh floor, on the first night, served by really friendly...

The location of the hotel is perfect for tourists, easy to walk around the old town area and close to all the local and tourist transport. The views from the roof terrace are lovely and the hotel staff were helpful and friendly. I knew when we booked it that the view from the room might not be great. All you...

I have stayed at this hotel on a number of occasions now whilst visiting the lovely city of Lisbon. I would not say it is the best hotel but it has the best location. We have just returned from a lovely 4 night break in Lisbon. If you are looking for a hotel with high standards and central access to the city, then look no further. The room was spotless, with a comfortable bed, high cleanliness standards and very spacious. Although we only had the tiniest of balconies this did not matter as there...

Disappointing. Overpriced rooms for what you get. Small dark room. Soiled dark industrial carpet. Carpet smelled like toliet cleaner. Croissants were like refrigerator rolls.. Otherwise food good. Staff very nice. Lisbon is way too crowded with tourists....it's ridiculous. This is in good location but rooms just not pleasant.

Staying in Baixa, Rossio & Restauradores

Neighbourhood Profile
Baixa, Rossio & Restauradores
A pending candidate to become a World Heritage Site, Lisbon's downtown (the "Baixa Pombalina", or simply "Baixa") is a perfect example of anti-earthquake construction, having been rebuilt following the 1755 earthquake by the famous Marquês de Pombal (hence its name). Its offer is vast: restaurants and cafes in Rossio and Restauradores, outlets and shops in the Áurea, Augusta, Prata and other famous streets, the imponent Praça do Comércio and its Arch, the luxury shops along the Avenida da Liberdade, this is the beating heart of the city center. The Baixa also grants easy access to trains leading to Sintra, the trams that go around the Castle hill, old neighborhoods or even take you to Belém, and Lisbon's traditional restaurants and cafes. Considering a visit to the Fashion and Design Museum (free entrance) and don't forget to try the famous liquor, "ginjinha"!

Hotel do Chiado is located in Chiado / Baixa, Lisbon's historic district, near Bairro Alto, Rossio Square and Avenida da Liberdade. Hotel do Chiado was built in the historic building of Armazéns do Chiado, nowadays a shopping center, which was completely restored by the famous architect Siza Vieira after the tragic fire of 1988. Located in Chiado, the trendiest, elegant and chic meeting point of Lisbon, this is the only hotel in town that offers rooms with private terraces and panoramic views of the Castle and the TagusRiver. The subway station Baixa-Chiado is located beneath the building and you can easily find taxi service side by side with the hotel. ... more   less
