We spent four nights at Hotel do Chiado in August 2014. This was our 4th time in Lisbon and also our 4th time staying at this hotel... and it was perfect, as always. The location of the hotel is ideal. The rooms are nice (the standard room is quite large and the bed is big and very comfortable). The staff...

Loved this hotel. Location was just perfect. Newly renovated rooms, clean and delicate. Breakfast was very good (compared to other breakfastrooms in four-star hotels in Portugal). They are however having a staff problem regarding the housekeeping, make sure they clean your room while your out. They get off at 16:30 Sundays - we were out from 8:30 -15:30 and put...

Newly renovated hotel with a perfect location. Top floor rooms with view of castle is great! Best view in Lisboa and literally close to everything. Cleaning sometimes a little slow, but other than that a great experience! Friendly staff, great room!

We selected Hotel do Chiado because of what was written on Tripadvisor. We had no clue where to stay in Lisbon and we were not steered wrong. What a jewel of a place. We stayed in a room with a lovely terrace. The weather was perfect and sitting out on the terrace in the sun felt wonderful. An excellent view...

My 4th stay in this classic style hotel, stunning views from the French Balcony. Quite perfect location right Chiado/Bairro Alto historic section downtown Lisbon. Don't miss it. Also, right at the door step of highly rated portuguese modern restaurant, all at very good quality/price ratio.

Great location. Comfortable room. Great breakfast fruit selection. Would book here again without reservation. My only challenge was finding the hotel once exiting the underground as I was misdirected at the metro information desk, took the wrong exit and wandered the hilly streets for half an hour. Maybe the hotel should specify in their adds exactly where to go.

Staying in Baixa, Rossio & Restauradores

Neighbourhood Profile
Baixa, Rossio & Restauradores
A pending candidate to become a World Heritage Site, Lisbon's downtown (the "Baixa Pombalina", or simply "Baixa") is a perfect example of anti-earthquake construction, having been rebuilt following the 1755 earthquake by the famous Marquês de Pombal (hence its name). Its offer is vast: restaurants and cafes in Rossio and Restauradores, outlets and shops in the Áurea, Augusta, Prata and other famous streets, the imponent Praça do Comércio and its Arch, the luxury shops along the Avenida da Liberdade, this is the beating heart of the city center. The Baixa also grants easy access to trains leading to Sintra, the trams that go around the Castle hill, old neighborhoods or even take you to Belém, and Lisbon's traditional restaurants and cafes. Considering a visit to the Fashion and Design Museum (free entrance) and don't forget to try the famous liquor, "ginjinha"!

Hotel do Chiado is located in Chiado / Baixa, Lisbon's historic district, near Bairro Alto, Rossio Square and Avenida da Liberdade. Hotel do Chiado was built in the historic building of Armazéns do Chiado, nowadays a shopping center, which was completely restored by the famous architect Siza Vieira after the tragic fire of 1988. Located in Chiado, the trendiest, elegant and chic meeting point of Lisbon, this is the only hotel in town that offers rooms with private terraces and panoramic views of the Castle and the TagusRiver.
