The attic suite rooms are lovely: big, and the ones on the front have balconies with a spectacular view. The hotel is a lovely old building, and they've expanded next door and breakfast is also in a roof-top location. Service is basic, but the staff are really pleasant. Ideal for the traveller who wants simple comfort in a great location... More

This hotel is located in the Bairro Alto area of Lisbon, Well located for sightseeing, restaurants and nightlife. The rooms are unique. The furniture is like pieces of art they have you sign a note that you will be changed if you take any of these pieces home. The superior rooms overlook a plateau with benches and a nice view... We stayed in one of the Suites and it was perfect. The room was gorgeous. The whole place has a unique aesthetic and is spacious and well suited. There are two on site restaurants and both seem to be excellent or at least very popular. We couldn't get a table at the main restaurant it was booked up. The staff... More

We stayed in a standard double room in mid-August. The property is great and exactly as advertised. The rooftop breakfasts were AMAZING. Rooms were small but all that was needed, and the bathrooms beautiful. Comfy bed. The detail at this hotel is what sets it apart -- the bedside lamps made of pipes, the artwork on the walls, the double... More

The Independente Hostel & Suites is one of the most soulful hostels I’ve ever had the pleasure of staying at - its beauty and charm is all in the lovingly and well cared for interior. Quite frankly, the entire Independente is a piece of vintage art - an antique furniture lover’s dream. Everywhere you look you see something of inspiration.... More

We choose this Hostel/Suites by the location which was great next to Bairo Alto. Suite was good with retro furniture and nice decoration. The major issue was the noise ( in the same building is restaurant / bar and the customers are drunk and screaming every night) if you want to go in bed after 02:00 there is no problem... More

We had a problem with the booking, the receptionist solved it quickly, efficiently. He turned a bad situation to the highlight of our stay. Thank you again for the room upgrade!! Staff is so nice, funny, smiley and friendly. Breakfast delicious, the view makes it magic. We stayed only one night, I wish we had stayed longer!

My friend and I stayed 5 nights in a 9 bed all girls room. The first night some of the others came home late and flicked on a light. I woke up to find a bug crawling on my leg, I brushed it off and didn't think much of it until later the next day. I had bug bites in... More

We slept 5 nights in a 6 dorm and everything was perfect. The hostel is very clean and the staff was really helpful. There's breakfast included, i couldn't complain about it since it's really cheap. If you're looking for a good restaurant there is one in the hostel ;-). The hostel is close to restaurants and bars but I didn't... More
