I stayed for a total of 5 nights, but in 2 different rooms. Hotel kept my luggage in storage while I was away for 1 night. Room: on the small side (not unexpected for a city hotel, though). Retro furnishings. Cannot fault its cleanliness. There was a little bit of odour from one of the bathrooms (Room 506 if I...

Great girlfriends on a city break to celebrate birthday and we had a lovely time at this hotel. They initially had a double bed for 1 of the rooms which was quickly changed to twin beds. The beds were comfortable and we had a great night sleep. It had a kitchenette with a kettle and an iron .The rooms are...

Central to the City and only 3 mins from Baixo Chiado metro. (30mins from the airport with one change). A small street with not a great outlook but then you go out to see not look from the window. 1 minute to the corner where the Brown's Bistro serves breakfast. A wonderful choice of Continental, full English or breads, toast...

What a great hotel. Stylish, modern and extremely comfortable. Stayed for an early December getaway and Lisbon gave us beautiful weather. The reception staff here are very nice and will recommend places to eat and things to see. A good map is provided. The reception area is funky yet comfortable and a good space to have a free coffee. Rooms...

Lisbon was our last stop for 3 nights during our European vacation back in February 2017 and Brown's Downtown hotel was our choice of our stay. The moment we were stepped into the hotel, we were amazed by the interior. It has this retro fitted furnitures and walkways. The staff that greeted us and checked us in was very friendly...

We booked 3 nights in Browns Downtown. Prior to our arrival they sent a welcome email asking if it was a special occasion so that they could arrange a surprise. As it was my birthday we arrived to a bottle of Fizz and an upgrade to a beautiful suite. Such a fabulous room. The staff are wonderful and instantly make...

Nothing was too much trouble for the staff at this hotel (especially Manuel and Tania). Even though we had a few things that needed sorting out, the fact that they addressed them promptly still makes this hotel excellent in our eyes. The hotel is in a fantastic location and we walked everywhere except when we took the metro to the...

A perfect location for touring the historic areas of Lisbon. The staff are friendly, courteous and go out of their way to help you. The rooms are comfortable and stylish. Breakfast at Brown's Central was plentiful and had something for everyone.

Staying in Baixa, Rossio & Restauradores

Neighbourhood Profile
Baixa, Rossio & Restauradores
A pending candidate to become a World Heritage Site, Lisbon's downtown (the "Baixa Pombalina", or simply "Baixa") is a perfect example of anti-earthquake construction, having been rebuilt following the 1755 earthquake by the famous Marquês de Pombal (hence its name). Its offer is vast: restaurants and cafes in Rossio and Restauradores, outlets and shops in the Áurea, Augusta, Prata and other famous streets, the imponent Praça do Comércio and its Arch, the luxury shops along the Avenida da Liberdade, this is the beating heart of the city center. The Baixa also grants easy access to trains leading to Sintra, the trams that go around the Castle hill, old neighborhoods or even take you to Belém, and Lisbon's traditional restaurants and cafes. Considering a visit to the Fashion and Design Museum (free entrance) and don't forget to try the famous liquor, "ginjinha"!
