Stayed for two nights in this hotel in a room on the second floor. The room was not too big, but very nicely decorated and equipped with ultra-modern technology. The bathroom was stylish, too, but definitely too small. However, I was more than compensated due to the fact that during the booking I indicated my arrival time and I found...

We had a single day in Lisbon before getting to the ship and we wanted something centrally located to the pedestrian mall district. This place was really nice and trendy looking. Quiet and comfortable rooms if a little small (the queen sized bed took up almost all the space). It was definitely in a great location for walking around the...

We would agree with all the good reviews re location, staff and comfort. We booked a superior double room and were given room 215 on the second floor. The room had a very comfortable bed, good size fridge, kettle, electric hob and iron. For those who use these on holiday a computer and I pad which we believe were free...

This is not a cheap stay by any means, but an absolutely perfect way to end a short trip to Portugal feeling pampered and well looked after. The room was in the attic, so was quirkily-shaped, but had all the facilities you needed (including coffee machine, hairdryer and iron) and a very comfortable bed. Cleanliness and decor were both spot...

You are greeted well by friendly and very helpful front desk staff. The reception area will take you by surprise - very modern furnishings, but tasteful. The room assigned to us was small, but comfortable. We were provided with an iPad and Mac to use. There was a fully equipped small kitchen to make breakfast or store some food for...

This boutique hotel was perfect for someone travelling alone. It is located in Baixa which is in the perfect location in the middle of the action and close to the tram/ bus tour stops. The room was compact but beautifully designed and comfortable. I was on the 1st floor right by the stairs so it could be a bit disruptive...

Stylish and cosmopolitan hotel in a fabulous location. The hotel is set on a quiet road in the heart of the shopping area and a few hundred yards from the waterfront. Contemporary design with facilities in the room such a iPad, computer, tv, fan, radio etc.The room had a small kitchen area but there were no tea and coffee making...

We booked this hotel based on tripadvisor reviews and its location in the city center of Lisbon, yet in a rather quiet street. Being in the downtown area has it is advantages (within walking distance of restaurants, subway-system, shops and the magnificant waterfront of Lisabon), it also comes with a few minors (such as garbage trucks in the middel of...

We recently visited Portugal and started our trip with three nights in Lisbon. The Brown hotel They have three all within close proximity, was in a great location. We walked all around the area, close to the water, tours and outstanding sea food restaurants. The Brown had wonderful helpful staff who gave good advice. Breakfast was served at the nearby...

Staying in Baixa, Rossio & Restauradores

Neighbourhood Profile
Baixa, Rossio & Restauradores
A pending candidate to become a World Heritage Site, Lisbon's downtown (the "Baixa Pombalina", or simply "Baixa") is a perfect example of anti-earthquake construction, having been rebuilt following the 1755 earthquake by the famous Marquês de Pombal (hence its name). Its offer is vast: restaurants and cafes in Rossio and Restauradores, outlets and shops in the Áurea, Augusta, Prata and other famous streets, the imponent Praça do Comércio and its Arch, the luxury shops along the Avenida da Liberdade, this is the beating heart of the city center. The Baixa also grants easy access to trains leading to Sintra, the trams that go around the Castle hill, old neighborhoods or even take you to Belém, and Lisbon's traditional restaurants and cafes. Considering a visit to the Fashion and Design Museum (free entrance) and don't forget to try the famous liquor, "ginjinha"!
