I have just spent a long weekend at this hotel and it may be very basic but it is very clean and the location is fantastic - right on Rossio square and literally 5 mins walk from praca do commerco square and santa justyna lift. All of the hop on hop off bus tours leave from just outside the hotel...

I will be honest when I first walked up the stairs I thought why has my husband booked here. After a warm and helpful welcome by the reception staff and started to take in the place. It feels like a place used for filming for the Bourne identity films. Loads of character. The rooms are basic but clean. Missed having...

Lovely, characterful pension, very clean. A hotel in everything but a lift, perfect location next to a metro station and stop for tram 12 for the castle, perfect for a few days in Lisbon. Very helpful staff and very good buffet breakfast excellent value for money.

I stayed in room 203 that had a view right onto the square below. There was a separate sitting area which was quite big and had a microwave and tv and the bathroom was quite big. I can recommend this hotel if you are staying in Lisbon for a week or more and would appreciate some more space. On the...

I nedeed to go to Lisbon to meet my family. As it was a couple of days I looked for some inexpensive place to stay. I read the reviews about this place but I was not confident. When I arrived there (about 8pm) I thought I was right because the entrance is so ugly but my surprise started in the...

We stayed three nights in room 307 (3rd floor). The room is smallish but fine, clean linen and towels, you'll get fresh ones every day after the maid cleans the room. Small toiletries provided. There's a hot but small shower. It would be convenient to have a hook to hang the shower head on. Toilet in the hallway, never had...

My friend and I stayed here for three nights (Thursday-Sunday morning) in December. We had a double room with two twin beds and a shared bathroom. The room was decent sized and very clean. Shared bathrooms were equally clean and we never had to wait to use them. We arrived a bit later than expected, but check in was no...

My 4th stay here and as usual it is well up to standard. Stayed in a lovely room, just refurbished. Very quiet despite being in the centre of town. Friendly, helpful staff. Great breakfast, low price. What more can you ask for. Already booked for next spring. Trams and tour buses right outside as is metro station.

It has an excellent location, and even though it's right in the centre of the town, due to the very good windows, the noise didn't get in, so we could sleep well. The staff is very friendly and is there 24/7. The Wifi was excellent. The room was small but cozy and it really serves the purposes of offering a...

Stayed here for 2 nights. It is a great hotel at Rosio square. Location is amazing as Lisbon old city is easily accessible from here. Hotel is well maintained and rooms are spacious and clean. Breakfast was nice. Would love to come back here.

Staying in Baixa, Rossio & Restauradores

Neighbourhood Profile
Baixa, Rossio & Restauradores
A pending candidate to become a World Heritage Site, Lisbon's downtown (the "Baixa Pombalina", or simply "Baixa") is a perfect example of anti-earthquake construction, having been rebuilt following the 1755 earthquake by the famous Marquês de Pombal (hence its name). Its offer is vast: restaurants and cafes in Rossio and Restauradores, outlets and shops in the Áurea, Augusta, Prata and other famous streets, the imponent Praça do Comércio and its Arch, the luxury shops along the Avenida da Liberdade, this is the beating heart of the city center. The Baixa also grants easy access to trains leading to Sintra, the trams that go around the Castle hill, old neighborhoods or even take you to Belém, and Lisbon's traditional restaurants and cafes. Considering a visit to the Fashion and Design Museum (free entrance) and don't forget to try the famous liquor, "ginjinha"!
