Good welcome , balcony area with a view over the roof tops towards the river, located just below the castle. Our room was spacious, huge bed huge, could have had landing lights up the middle as a runway for Lisbon Airport. Staff were charming, breakfast good, continental buffet. All in all would happily go back, and good wi fi.

I was only stay in the cafe but not at the hotel. the cafe is perfect. modern, unlike most cafes in Lisbon which are antique. It has a beautiful garden with a view of the entire Lisbon. Coffee was perfect and the service excellent. congratulations

We stayed at Solar dos Mouros for a long weekend and our stay could not have been better. The staff were fantastic and really made us feel warm and welcome. We stayed in a RIver View Room and it fit the bill perfectly. Lovely African art work and books in the room . It was immaculately clean. We ate locally...

Dear Eyeonthetarget, We're thrilled you enjoyed your stay with us. The castle hill is indeed one of the biggest and tallest in Lisbon, however our friendly mayor built a couple of public lifts to aid people with the climb. As you pointed out, it's always a good idea to contact the hotel beforehand and ask for taxi instructions, we also...

Not much to look at from the outside and quite small inside but the terrace bar has a great view of the river and the higher you go in the building , the better the view ! It's a small hotel with most rooms facing the river so go for one of those. We stayed on the 6th floor in...

Dear Ssw57, Thank you for the review and your feedback. The lift is something we've been working on for a while and it's always possible it'll make its appearance at some point in the future. Until then, we'll provide free physical exercise with all river view suites on top floors! The view is worth it indeed! All the best, SDM...

We had a great studio room facing the castle. We asked for an additional heater which was promptly delivered. The towels were changed daily and the bed made.Spotless clean! We received complementary Porto wine and the staff helped with luggage, information, reservations and taxis. If I return, I will surely stay there again!

We spent a long weekend in Lisbon and were delighted to have found this hotel. Very convenient , near the castle (but bear in mind Lisbon has lots of hills so we got plenty of exercise!) The hotel room was very comfy, it was a chilly time in Lisbon but the hotel was warm and cosy. Comfy bed, very nice...

My boyfriend and I spent a 5 night holiday in Lisbon and loved staying at Hotel Solar dos Mouros. The staff were very helpful right when we arrived and throughout our stay - helping us with day trips, restaurants and other suggestions. We got a good price in the low season, so we opted for the double with a view...

Finding this place was a little tricky from the Airport Bus stop in town, but once we had found it very happy. We where greeted with a drink and time to relax while they checked us in. The view from the lounge balcony was great but when we saw the view from our room we where blown away. We went...

Spectacular view on a nice little terrace. We were so thirsty after our hike up the hill and thought a nice cup of tea would hit the spot instead of the customary beer. The cost of three tees exhorbitant. We love travelling and exploring not being overcharged.

Dear customer, thank you for your review. We appreciate your sense of humour, however taxes we pay take away a good chunk of the exorbitant cost. Unfortunately, with ROI looming on the horizon, the reality of great views from the terrace has its price. You'll be pleased to know that regular customers get discounts, something we'll continue into 2017. All...

Staying in Castelo, Alfama & Mouraria

Neighbourhood Profile
Castelo, Alfama & Mouraria
Explore narrow streets and alleyways, small cafes and, of course, the internationally acclaimed Fado music. The earth-shattering Great Earthquake of 1755 destroyed most of the city but the contiguous neighborhoods of Mouraria, Castelo and Alfama remained standing to this day. These neighborhoods represent Lisbon at its historical best. The cool breeze of the Tagus river will take you up the hills to the sound of Fado, where you'll discover the best "tascas," eat delicious fresh fish and drink great wines. Discover hidden viewpoints and ancient traces of other civilizational ruins in the heart of the Portuguese capital. These are centuries-old neighborhoods that will welcome you to the very best of old Lisbon culture.
