HOTEL’S FAVOURITE REVIEW

The Solar Do Castelo is just steps away from the entrance to the Castle and part of the oldest area of Lisbon. Winding, narrow streets, interesting little shops and cafe's plus you can walk down to the port area or to the Old Central District. The rooms are comfortable and quiet. They provide a very nice breakfast that runs late...

We had booked a short break in Gran Canaria and when our return flight was cancelled, we had to find somewhere else. Fortunately, we found this place. It is a small hotel with very friendly and efficient staff. The room was a good size, well decorated and had a really comfortable bed. The area is really quiet and apart from...

Stay here for a fantastic oasis away from the bustle of Lisbon. It's up a rather steep hill but worth the journey. Free tea, coffee and refreshments all day and a beautiful patio to sit outside. Rooms were very stylish and the staff were lovely. I would certainly stay again and highly recommended.

We stayed for three nights at the Solar Do Castelo. The welcome was very warm and friendly which summed up the whole of our stay. Breakfasts were good and plentiful and being able to have refreshments in the lounge at any time was a bonus. The bedroom was very comfortable and characterful. The staff were extremely helpful and knowledgeable. We...

Beautiful traditional hotel. Very welcoming staff with lots of lovely personal touches. Located right next to the castle and with local bars and restaurants within a short walk. Very comfortable lounge area in the hotel with complementary tea, coffee and cakes all day. Quiet and tranquil environment - ideal for relaxing after a day of sightseeing.

Just returned from 3 nights at this fantastic quaint hotel. It is a heritage hotel and does not disappoint. Although a small hotel with just bed and breakfast option, this is not a problem as huge variety of places to eat nearby. The hotel was very quiet and perfect for relaxing. The room we had was large and very comfortable....

We stayed three nights in the Solar Do Castelo which is right next door to the castle. We really enjoyed our stay - the hotel was very good - room, breakfast, all of the staff. It is at the top of a hill and there are cobble stones everywhere in Lisbon so we had a good workout every day to...

We spent 3 nights at Solar Do Castelo. From the moment we arrived we were delighted. The reception staff were friendly and more than happy to help us make restaurant bookings and give directions. There were complimentary hot drinks and cakes in reception, which were welcome after a day of sight seeing. Our room was meticulously clean and we were delighted...

I would highly recommend Hotel Solar do Castelo. Originally part of the castle kitchens, it has been so tastefully restored and converted into very comfortable accommodation. Our room and en suite bath/ shower room were quiet and warm. There are coffee, tea and pastries available all day in the lounge which also serves as a breakfast room. We were there...

Staying in Castelo, Alfama & Mouraria

Neighbourhood Profile
Castelo, Alfama & Mouraria
Explore narrow streets and alleyways, small cafes and, of course, the internationally acclaimed Fado music. The earth-shattering Great Earthquake of 1755 destroyed most of the city but the contiguous neighborhoods of Mouraria, Castelo and Alfama remained standing to this day. These neighborhoods represent Lisbon at its historical best. The cool breeze of the Tagus river will take you up the hills to the sound of Fado, where you'll discover the best "tascas," eat delicious fresh fish and drink great wines. Discover hidden viewpoints and ancient traces of other civilizational ruins in the heart of the Portuguese capital. These are centuries-old neighborhoods that will welcome you to the very best of old Lisbon culture.
