The hostel was in a great location and for 3 of us sharing a private room it was more like a cheap and cheerful hotel so we can't complain on that front. The price was very reasonable and the location was perfect walking distance to most of the busy areas in the centre of the city. Considering this was a...

The location here was excellent. So easy to walk everywhere and metro/tram/train stops really close. Supermarket 2mins walk away as well. The staff were really friendly here and the place was safe. Bathroom a bit mouldy but our room was cleaned everyday and towels changed which was appreciated. Plastic sheet covers on beds were annoying! Pretty noisy with street traffic...

Excellent location - Alfama boarder. Nice and welcoming staff, good breakfast. Lived at hostel private room. Changed towels and made the bad for every day. Close to public transportation. Not so noisy as on most central street.

Hostel clean, good beds, loads of hot water, pleasant and helpful staff. Great location in the old town, close to castle, cathedral , St Antonio's church , elevator St Justa and so much more. Disappointing breakfast. Great cafe across the street, Ok Italian restaurant down the hill.supermarket up the hill to buy water and fruit.

There was mould in the first room where I stayed; due to mould the room was smelly. Then I changed a room and had other problems... Pipes in the bathroom were clogged, so I couldn't take a shower. The door to the bathroom was out-of-order; I couldn't close it. Towels were changed too rarely. I saw a bug in the...

This hostel has large rooms, it's very clean, it has a great service, fair prices, very closer to the Lisbon downtown. My only complaint is the elevator just on the second floor. In general, it's very good. I could return at my next trip to Portugal.

The place is quite clean, staff is as nice as can be, location couldn't be better and the breakfast is more than fair...if some guests are noisy when they arrive at night, this is not the hostel's fault.

We traveled to Lisbon in order to discover this town. We lived one week in a gorgeous hotel. Our room was clean and comfortable. We only ate the breakfeast at the hotel, it was simple but correct. We ate well !

Staying in Baixa, Rossio & Restauradores

Neighbourhood Profile
Baixa, Rossio & Restauradores
A pending candidate to become a World Heritage Site, Lisbon's downtown (the "Baixa Pombalina", or simply "Baixa") is a perfect example of anti-earthquake construction, having been rebuilt following the 1755 earthquake by the famous Marquês de Pombal (hence its name). Its offer is vast: restaurants and cafes in Rossio and Restauradores, outlets and shops in the Áurea, Augusta, Prata and other famous streets, the imponent Praça do Comércio and its Arch, the luxury shops along the Avenida da Liberdade, this is the beating heart of the city center. The Baixa also grants easy access to trains leading to Sintra, the trams that go around the Castle hill, old neighborhoods or even take you to Belém, and Lisbon's traditional restaurants and cafes. Considering a visit to the Fashion and Design Museum (free entrance) and don't forget to try the famous liquor, "ginjinha"!

“it might be good to place a little bench or stool at the bathroom where one could place clothes as otherwise there is nothing much, where one can leave them while taking a shower. otherwise the rooms are very good.”
