Very nice room, plenty of space, large bathroom, all the amenities. Staff very helpful. Close to castle and Alfama and Mouraria districts, but about 15 minutes to town center. Gorgeous view overlooking Lisbon from my room.

This is a very good hotel and located in the heart of Old Lisbon and within walking distance of many restaurants and interesting places to visit. The staff were all very friendly and could not be more helpful. We were particularly thankful of the help provided by Roi when on arrival I realised I had left my i pad in...

We loved the hotel. The staff were superb, friendly and helpful. The room was spacious, clean and comfortable. The only thing we found difficult was the climb up from the Metro and city centre, but it was superbly placed for the castle.

Spent 5 nights here during gorgeous spring weather. 3rd floor room very nice, well appointed and good views from balcony. Like most hotels too few clothes hangers in wardrobe and no actaul hangers for airing clothes except in wardrobe. Breakfasts are good with a wide range of options. Staff are very friendly and helpful with directions, restaurant bookings and general...

We had a terrific stay at this hotel. The view from the room was amazing. The beds were extremely comfortable and the staff very friendly and efficient. Highly recommended. The location was very close the the Castello Sao Jorge as well as many restaurants and tapas bars.

This hotel overlooks the city. Difficult to reach by car, and taxi's don't like to go there as they have to wait for the pillars in the streets to go down. Tuktuks aren't allowed to go in these streets. But the hotel is nice, and very clean. Attentive staff: you feel at home. Every effort is taken.

The room was large and comfortable, fine linen on the bed and a comfortable firm mattress. There was a great view from our window as long a you don't look down to street level where the poor quality graffitti can be seen; just look towards the highest point in Lisbon. Passersby below our room all stopped to take in the...

Staying in Castelo, Alfama & Mouraria

Neighbourhood Profile
Castelo, Alfama & Mouraria
Explore narrow streets and alleyways, small cafes and, of course, the internationally acclaimed Fado music. The earth-shattering Great Earthquake of 1755 destroyed most of the city but the contiguous neighborhoods of Mouraria, Castelo and Alfama remained standing to this day. These neighborhoods represent Lisbon at its historical best. The cool breeze of the Tagus river will take you up the hills to the sound of Fado, where you'll discover the best "tascas," eat delicious fresh fish and drink great wines. Discover hidden viewpoints and ancient traces of other civilizational ruins in the heart of the Portuguese capital. These are centuries-old neighborhoods that will welcome you to the very best of old Lisbon culture.
