We stayed at Zuzabed on our trip to Portugal in 2019. Luis goes above and beyond to ensure his guests feel welcome, are comfortable and well cared for. Rooms have all the necessary amenities, cleanliness is immaculate. Locations convenient for site seeing. I have stayed in many hotels and Luis is the best host by far. Thank you for welcoming us we intend to return!
I stayed 7 nights here and had a wonderful time! Luis, the owner, goes above and beyond to ensure his guest's every need is met. I stayed in one of the Terrace rooms, the one with the magnificent view across the city, including the Sao Jorge Castle. The room was bright and sunny due to the large picture window and sliding glass terrace doors. WiFi was excellent! The bathroom had storage space under the sink and good lighting. A hair dryer and shower gel were provided. The heat worked well, and other amenities included bathrobe, hangars, flat-screen TV, full-length mirror, USB charging ports, a carafe of water, glasses, and (thoughtfully) packages of cookies. There is also a small fridge guests can use and an honor-system bar. Breakfast included an egg cooked to order, bacon, toast, pastries, cereals, yogurts, fresh fruits, fresh-squeezed juice, coffee, teas, rolls, jams, meats, and cheeses. Luis, who was there at breakfast much of the time, was always willing to answer sightseeing questions. He’s developed an app for guests’ use that is fantastic and which works when offline, and he even offers a local cell phone for guests to call him whenever they need assistance or advice, or for their personal use. His personalized approach to running the B&B is unmatched in my experience. The location on Calcada do Ducque (a charming, historic street made of steps) is perfectly situated for exploration of the city, on foot and by public transportation. The Rossio metro station is about 5-7 minutes’ walk away, and the Rossio train station is even closer. 5 minutes up the steps takes you to the Largo Trindade Coelho, and from there it’s a straight shot walking downhill (10-12 minutes) to the waterfront near Cais de Sodre station (from where you take the train to Belem) and the Timeout Market. This homey B&B provides good value and an authentic experience for a reasonable price. Thank you to Luis for making me feel so at home!…
We stayed for a month and we absolutely loved the apartment. The building was renovated recently and looks very nice. The location is great. Close to everything you want as a tourist. The street is quiet though it's the very center of the city. Luis (the host) is an extremely helpful person. Highly recommended..
Zuza is far and away the best BnB I’ve stayed at in over 30 years of travel. And that’s purely because of the genuine and personal warmth and care that Luiz (the owner) brings to his BnB. Luiz is smart, funny and loves what he does. He wants to personally ensure you have a safe and great time. Why else, for example, would he give each guest a mobile phone so they could reach him 24/7 - if needed. His app is very useful up-to-date and well thought through. For me, Luiz quickly became more than a host. He became a friend. It’s hard to imagine staying anywhere else in beautiful Lisbon.
My family and friends have travelled to Portugal for over 10 years and there's no doubt where we make reservations in Lisbon. We found this jewel a long time ago and decided to stay once again in this cozy , super location (smack in the middle of everything you need). Its where we are greeted like old friends and in someone's home. The four rooms are lovingly decorated and well maintained. We opted for two rooms one the Home Garden room which is located off the dining/ living room . It was bright and cheery , comfort plus with all the amenities one needs. We enjoyed the livingroom and computer for easy planning and meeting other travelers. Our second room for friends was one of the Terrace rooms with a view like a postcard and the ever changing famous light of Lisbon. They really enjoyed sitting outside and absorbing the Portuguese culture and life right below on the stairwell for pedestrians only. Breakfast was something to look forward to! A delicious freshly made breakfast which included a hot meal with eggsto order and bacon. The fresh bread and jams, fruit of the season and everflowing coffee ,fresh juice and the all you can eat buffet, and conversation well you get the idea!!! Luis, the innkeeper and his delightful staff gave 100 Percent plus every day.Luis is still the same cheerful charismatic and charming man we first met. It's always our pleasure to see him and his staff. We all enjoyed the soundtrack of background music, conversation and helpful tips along with the Zuza App. New plans are in the development stages to not only offer Zuza boat tours but Zuza group and private tours of the surrounding area. We cant wait! In closing, another wonderful stay and chance to explore more pretty villages and coastline in Portugal.Once again more memorable moments created and partly owed to the sincere and friendly hospitality of Zuzabed.…
