Myself and my husband decided to visit Lisbon during mid term break ,and chose the Nova Goa primarily for its location and price ,both of which were excellent. The hotel was centrally located close to the historic old town and central station ,so top marks for location. The pension itself was basic,in need of a good painting but linen and towels were...

This is the first time we booked a hotel and we had to checked-out earlier than it was planned. Even if the location is very good, it doesn't worth spending your money on this hotel. It is filthy, the bathroom is just miserable, the bed was small (even if we booked for a double one) and the breakfast didn't compensate...

Location is great, it could not be better. Wifi, air condition, bath, lift. It is old, but the price is resonable. Great view. You can walk around to Rossio, Alfama, Castle. Train station to Sintra, Aerobus - ( bus to Airport) in on Rossio square. Metro also.

While in Lisbon the weather was super hot, however there was kind of a ventilator in the room so we were able to survive. The location of the hotel is great - pedestrian distance to both one of the main squares (buses), the very main square of Lisbon (respectively the Promenade) and also the hill with the fortress on it....

I visited this hotel in June 2016. The price was attractive. Everything is basic but enough. The breakfast is nice bread, cheese, ham, jam, juice, coffee and butter.the rooms get cleaned everyday. The duvet cover looked old but clean. Each room has a TV in it. The location is amazing as we could go to all tourist attractions on feet....

We booked into the hotel on 13/5/2016 and checked out on 19/5/2016 at 12.15 PM. We paid the bill and asked the hotel reception to look after our two suitcases and one bag for a couple of hours. We came back to the hotel at 6 PM to be told that some other customer had walked off (stolen) the bag....

The red metro line starts at Lisbon Portela Airport so you cannot go in the wrong direction. The airport and all of main sights of Lisbon are in this metro zone L. A single journey costs 1.40 EUR (April 2016) and a 24 hour ticket 6.00 EUR and is also valid on buses, trams and the elevators that takes you...

Nice staff who speak a little English. Dated rooms and you could tell there is/has been a lot of smoking in there so if you are a non-smoker I wouldn't recommend. Room was dated but in the end everything worked well (hot water, toilet, heating, excellent wi-fi at least on the 2nd floor). We didn't spend that many hours a...

Aged hotel near the heart of the city, next to the Praca da Figueiramand Rua Augusta. Correct price, correct staff. Great view to Castelo Sao Jorge. Little bit shabby building, but appropiate for a few day staying.

Staying in Baixa, Rossio & Restauradores

Neighbourhood Profile
Baixa, Rossio & Restauradores
A pending candidate to become a World Heritage Site, Lisbon's downtown (the "Baixa Pombalina", or simply "Baixa") is a perfect example of anti-earthquake construction, having been rebuilt following the 1755 earthquake by the famous Marquês de Pombal (hence its name). Its offer is vast: restaurants and cafes in Rossio and Restauradores, outlets and shops in the Áurea, Augusta, Prata and other famous streets, the imponent Praça do Comércio and its Arch, the luxury shops along the Avenida da Liberdade, this is the beating heart of the city center. The Baixa also grants easy access to trains leading to Sintra, the trams that go around the Castle hill, old neighborhoods or even take you to Belém, and Lisbon's traditional restaurants and cafes. Considering a visit to the Fashion and Design Museum (free entrance) and don't forget to try the famous liquor, "ginjinha"!
