I think to stay in a historical walled in town that wreaks history that is UNESCO protected and is packed with tourists and groups during the day, has a wonderful feeling of exclusivity when by the evening the groups have gone and you have the place to yourself. This hotel is in the centre of the walled area and driving is challenging to get there. We parked outside the walls, walked in and explored before we found the hotel, checked in and sought driving instructions how to get our vehicle to the parking area outside the hotel's entrance. The nature of the old cobbled roads it not suitable for rolling your luggage! This was a delightful hotel, very clean, comfortable and in a quiet location. The rooms are all named after past Portuguese Queens and our room on ground level offered a balcony. The welcome glass of Ginja sour cherry liqueur amenity was provided upon arrival which got us off to a great start. The bed was comfortable, we got a good night's sleep and the Wi-Fi was strong. The bathroom had a strong shower and the complimentary bottled water was a nice touch. We ate in the hotel Restaurant that evening and the food was excellent and homemade, authentically Portuguese. Breakfast offered an excellent buffet with hot and cold dishes. We stayed only one night as we were travelling through the region, but would definitely return the next time we're in Obidos.…
Our room looked nothing like those pictures above. Our room was very, very small, bathroom even smaller, mattress needed to be changed like 5 years ago. Rooms are a little smelly (damp? musty?). Very loud hallways so sleep was interrupted a few times. Breakfast was just ok--nothing great. Good location in town. Forget about trying to park near by. I was surprised to see all the TripAdvisor reviews here....I felt like I was staying in another boutique hotel.
The hotel was in a great location for us to visit the town and yet escape from the crowds of motor coach tourists visiting during the day. Not far from the central streets and inside the town walls. The staff was welcoming and friendly. The room was clean and tastefully decorated with a nice outdoor terrace for us to enjoy the quiet and the sun. Good breakfasts in the bright and sunfilled restaurant.
Stayed in this beautifully appointed hotel inside the historic walls. Only problem (and it's a big one) is trying to find the hotel with a car. Almost impossible. And when u do find out how to get there, the fun begins as u try to get your car thru the most narrow of entrances into the old town. The hotel does offer a welcome drink of the local lacquer which is a nice touch. The rooms are well appointed and very comfortable. Breakfast is very average. Front desk staff is also quite average. That being said, it's a great place to spend a night in Obidos!
The Casa das Senhoras Rinhas is a very sweet hotel inside the walls of Obidos. In fact, we had a room that overlooked the wall, right next to the hotel! The staff at the front desk were warm and welcoming and even offered us a "welcome drink" of a cherry liquor that is representative of this region. The room was large and comfortable with all the amenities you would expect in a 5 Star property. The location is great because you are on a quiet side street away from the touristy crowds, yet close enough to indulge if you wanted to. What I loved about the hotel was that it was inside the city walls and an early morning walk with the sun rising before the tour buses arrived was surreal imagining what it must have been like 800 years ago. An interesting fact about the town was that early in Portugal's history, the King's of Portugal gave the governance of the city of Obidos to their Queens. There were a succession of queens that ruled Obidos and each of the rooms are named after one of them.…
