Excellent location with good facilities and very helpful and friendly staff - a perfect place to stay for a short city break as my wife and I had earlier this month. We stayed on a bed and breakfast basis but also used the evening dining room on one occasion and we were pleasantly surprised by our very favourable experience. The hotel is situated near a host of places of interest to any tourists and also any number of interesting and reasonably priced restaurants.
A very classy hotel with the service to match, and the location cant really get any better. located on Rua Flores, the perfect street to be, not far from the river, surrounded by good restaurants and bars. the hotel has been refurbished with a really high standard as you would expect from PortoBay, the rooms have the PortoBay styling, great beds good shower. we had an upgrade to a room facing the courtyard which was pretty and peaceful. breakfast was excellent. one small point would be to have a card listing what you can order as well as the buffet as we asked about poached eggs, no problem. an expresso, no problem. staff very attentive. reception very helpful and friendly. the bar great, with tables out onto the mostly pedestrian street. the pool is small, but you dont go to porto to swim, you go for the food and the culture, but the spa is great quality and not expensive, the sauna and steamroom useful.…
What a lovely place this is! Housed in a gorgeous old building that’s been tastefully renovated and extended in a great location. Pleasant and attentive staff from the moment we arrived, nothing was too much trouble. They seemed genuinely happy to help us. We stayed in a top floor bedroom with wonderful views over the city. They even left a bottle of fizz and some cake in our room for my husband’s birthday... fantastic!
I can’t fault this hotel. Lovely building with a mix of old and contemporary. Fabulous location. We drank in the bar and ate in the bistro. Staff are attentive and friendly. The room was so comfortable and clean. I would visit a Portobay hotel again
The location is excellent no more than 8 minute walk from most sites and tourist attractions easy access to Riberia and bridge to the port houses. The hotel itself is beautiful and the styling is top class. Sympathetic to it's history but modern and clean design. The hotel is kept immaculately clean and service throughout is good and staff very helpful. We stayed in the palace room and is was superb: spacious, clean and everything you need. The only minor issue I had is that the Nespresso capsules and water were not restocked, I think for a five star hotel these should be restocked daily.
"Top floor for good views although we had a 11st floor room which opened into a quite garden. Am Rooms are very good."Read full review
