Just spent 3 nights here on a city break. The exterior of the hotel gives no clue to the wonderful, over the top Baroque interiors that await. The breakfast room alone is like the ballroom of a stately home. The welcome at reception could not have been better. The staff were friendly, enthusiastic and knowledgeable, handing out maps, directions and...

We stayed for 8 days at the hotel. The Reception staff are wonderful. Warm, friendly and knowledgeable. Proud of their hotel and of Oporto. The hotel is like a stately home in terms of its style and furnishings. A mixture of baroque and 1930s . All works rather well. Breakfast is in a grand room with plastered ceilings, chandeliers etc....

Booked this hotel for a three night trip to Porto. From the very efficient, friendly welcome to the amazing beds and wonderful breakfast we were very pleased with our choice. Its a great location but those hills and steps can be hard work !! It is quite dark inside and our bathroom in a standard room was a bit small....

The most outstanding aspect of this hotel is the staff who strike a perfect balance between being professional and being friendly. The bed was very comfortable, the location is good although not spectacular. Porto is a great place to go for a long weekend - full of history, shabby charm and it is good value and relaxed, with some great...

I booked this hotel for four days on a recent trip to Porto. I based my decision on the price and the five star rating. Basically, the common areas look really nice. The rest of the hotel is a different story. The hallways are so dark that if you dropped something you would need a flashlight to pick it up....

Good location, great attention, big room and bath. Old fashioned hotel, but still great. Very good and complete breakfast and great staff. I will probably come back if I ever return to Porto. I had a problem and the clerk solved it very fast.

pros: -location, close to everything -soft linens -good front desk service cons: -rooms well maintained but musty smelling and showing its age -servers stood around during breakfast but never ask you if you wanted coffee or tea (but maybe this is the portuguese way? noticed this at other places too) -bit dark

My husband and I stayed at this hotel for a week during last January. The staff was courteous and helpful, the room was neat and spacious and the breakfast was excellent. The hotel is perfect for walking tours around Porto, since it is close to the Ribeira (the river front), the main historical sites and the Sao Bento train station.

Great location close to metro station, bars, restaurants and tourist attractions. An older, 'character' property so don't expect amenities like ice machines on every floor :) or multiple elevators. We booked via a third party consolidator so had a 'classic' room, there was no option to upgrade. This was fine although far too hot but I resolved this problem by...

We were greeted warmly on arrival and offered glasses of port (of course) Room central heating was too hot and we were obliged to run the air conditioning to moderate the heat. Hotel has what is probably its original elevator with non-auto doors and a staff member to assist those not familiar with its operation. Very close to hop on...
