In a dense commercial street there's a hidden jewel, a superb modern Hotel built into an old palace. with vast nice garden, great comfortable rooms and great breakfast. It would compete easily with any 4 or 5 stars Hotel you've been to (I'd say that if they'd add a pool they could easily get this rating) Location is good too,...

This was such a romantic place to stay...the gardens and buildings all tiled, so beautiful... we would sit out in the garden after returning from dinner in Porto and have a scotch before turning in. So quiet yet, the noisy town was just a 15 minute walk away. We stayed in a tower room that had authentic antique furnishings... it...

Castelo Santa Catarina is a good choice for a visit to Porto. Its baroque opulence provides a welcome change from cookie-cutter hotels. Location is reasonable, only several blocks from where the street turns into a pedestrian mall. The room was clean and the modern bathroom contrasted with the glitzy chandelier in the sleeping room. It is off the street, so is...

great Experience!! not another typical hotel, This hotel is part of history- Located in Santa catrina castel. the hotel have two sides: the old one and the new. i recommend to stay at the old part, the rooms are designed like a 200-400 years old rooms - it's very cool! The rooms are clean, the breakfast is tasty and various.

Overall, I would not hesitate to recommend this hotel but there are a few negatives. That said, they are far outweighed by the positives. First the negatives. It is a fairly dismal walk into the centre of the city. Not a huge distance but a bit of a trudge in the late afternoon after a day of sightseeing. And the...

We loved the old castle, but disappointed that we didn't stay in the castle. We had a beautiful modern room, very clean, and comfortable! We felt the new additions took away from the old, and didn't blend in with the orginal architecture of the castle. The staff was very helpful and professional. The location was close enough to walk to...

We loved our stay in this hotel. A stunningly beautiful building. A tiled castle full of antiques. We were stunned when our room turned out to be right at the top of the tower. What a view! Tea and coffee making and a modern bathroom. Breakfast ok and generous. We enjoyed our walk down through Porto. On our second evening...
