This B/B chambre d'hôte is run by two middle aged men. Don't dare mention to the owner the uncomfortable bed or the tiny cubicle shower which overflows or the noisy macerator WC that you will hesitate to flush at night or risk waking up the whole household ! (All rooms have the same type). Any (constructive) criticism will be abruptly...

We stopped here for one night on our way back from Barcelona, and will stop again when we drive through France. A very friendly welcome, great rooms and exceptional breakfast. Plus Douglas the dog! Add it to your itinerary.

My wife and I stayed overnight in Mid October. Graham and Robert welcomed us as old friends and we thought we were lucky to find Le Rocher. The room was great and the bed comfortable. They have restored both house and garden to their high standards. When I went to the car early the next morning, I spied the croissants...

We stayed at Le Rocher for four nights whilst visiting my brother-in-law. The room was beautifully decorated and spotlessly clean. And feather pillows - luxury in a chambre d'hote. It was slightly cramped for four nights and no wardrobe or chest of drawers but I realise that most of their visitors are one night stopovers en route to or from...

A beautiful place run by the most charming, welcoming hosts. Graham and Rob made our family feel very at home. The house is a fabulous restored hunting lodge. The gardens have an abundance of peaceful places to relax and enjoy the landscaping. We made an unexpected stop and it added to our holiday. Every room is stunning. Le Rocher is...

We booked in advance so that we had our first night sorted and were not disappointed by the comfort of the room and the warmth of Rob, Patrick and Graham. We were made to feel at home from the first, so much so that we booked an overnight stop for our return journey home. We chatted over breakfast happily like...

We stayed overnight on a return trip from visiting friends in the south. It was Le Mans race weekend and everywhere was booked up and we were having trouble finding somewhere to stay so our expectations were not high when we eventually found and booked Le Rocher. Well what a surprise we had on our arrival. The house is an...

After a four year absence I stayed at Le Rocher again for a week over Christmas 2014 while visiting my daughter-in-law's family. Everything was lovely and welcoming as before. The house has been magnificently and lovingly restored and furnished and at Christmas the house is decorated to tasteful perfection. A very special place and worth a significant detour. Le Rocher...

We first stayed at Le Rocher about 4 years ago. We were sent to them quite late one evening on a journey back up to the ferry on the next day. We were beginning to think we would be sleeping in the car!! The welcome we got was very good and they gave us drink and refreshments before showing us...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Effortless hospitality and the balance between heritage and modern living make Le Rocher a unique Bed & Breakfast experience. Le Rocher was built in 1927 by a Parisien family the Maureys as a hunting lodge; it is perfectly nestled in the stunning valley where the family would hunt wild boar and deer. The house has a certain local notoriety and when built caused quite a stir because of its style which is not typical of the region and the type of building materials used. The name Le Rocher "the rock" refers to the rare volcanic material used in its construction and is to this day the subject of study by local schools. Le Rocher continues to evolve and we enjoy sharing our home and its development with our guests. ... more   less
