Hotel's Favourite
I stayed here for the bank holiday weekend, whilst visiting friends in Orba. Ruben's hospitality is second to none, The breakfast was different each morning and absolutely delicious. Especially the Brioche-chocolate bread, from his father's bakery, and the Sobrassada sausage drizzled with orange honey with homegrown tomatoes and local cheese. The hotel in immaculately clean, entry via keypad code, so no worrying about keys! A very thoughtful touch that the air-conditioning was on in our room on arrival, because it was very hot outside! Our room, L'Infern was bright and airy with wonderful views across the mountains and the Orba Valley. We has a small patio and table and chairs, the bed was super comfortable and the bathroom well equipped with beautifully smelling toiletries and fluffy towels. There's a nespresso coffee machine and kettle for a morning tea or coffee. Highly recommend this hotel.

This house has been refurbished with exquisite taste and a clin d'oeuil to Cesar Manrique. Light, fresh, and pristine, it boasts all the elements of an excellent hotel. But it is better: rooms are extremeley comfortable and the common areas have lovely pieces of art and glass. Ruben is an excellent host, at ease in Spanish, French, as well as English. A well stocked honesty bar provided us with aperitifs before a delicious dinner, and breakfast each morning was varied. Fresh orange juice reminded us of the delicious scent of the flowering orange groves which surround the town and each day there was a regional speciality - including a special bread for Easter cooked by Ruben's father who has the bakery on the corner. A brilliant place to relax and hopefully one day we will be able to return....

We stayed here on a weekend getaway. The hotel is in a small village in the foothills of the nearby mountains, a thirty minute drive from the the Costa Blanca beaches. Situated in a renovated townhouse with modern, artistic flourishes, it has a well stocked bar with nice wine and craft beer selections, which was a welcome diversion on arrival. Our favorite aspect was probably the terrace - a great spot for a glass of wine in the evening as well as to enjoy the outstanding continental breakfast in the morning. As others have said, Rubén is an accommodating and attentive host and he was there to help with all questions, great and small. Mardenit’s slogan is ‘rural and modern’ and it really struck the perfect balance.

Hotel Mardenit is a beautiful small boutique hotel. Ruben and his wife are very charming hosts. We had the Santa room which is spacious with a terrace and a lovely shower room. We enjoyed the Arabic night dinner with excellent wine. The only minor blip was the billing at the end of our stay. The website clearly stated that breakfast was included but we were billed an additional 80e. Ruben said this was a mistake on the computer translation and we agreed to split the difference. When I got home I noticed the room rate charged was more than the advertised rate. I emailed Ruben and he immediately apologised and refunded the difference.

Hi David, thank you very much for sharing your opinion with the rest of the users, opinions like yours help us to improve, and to help other future guests. I'm going to explain what happened so that the rest of future clients can understand better. In June 2020, after COVID confinement, we decided to update the way you can book with us, separating the accommodation from breakfast in the rates, and thus not forcing you to pay for breakfast if but you don't want it. This textual description was not modified in the English version of the web (It was our error) On the other hand, when a client tries to book at our hotel, they have the option of only accommodation, or B&B, with a supplement of € 10 per person per night. In addition, when you receive confirmation from the hotel, the total price appears and what the reservation includes, in this case only accommodation. We are aware that these misunderstandings make the guest experience worse. Despite what happened, we appreciate your feedback, because it helps us improve. Hope see you again :)

First of all, Ruben is a fantastic host who goes above and beyond. We had an amazing breakfast on the balcony overlooking the mountains. If you want to escape the crowds and have a genuine Spanish experience, close to mountaints for morning hikes and still close enough to go to the beach, this is the place for you!

Ruben was a great host, and made us feel very welcome upon arrival. Covid rules were strictly followed - all our luggage was disinfected as well as our feet and hands. All staff and clients wearing face coverings at all times. The bedrooms are spacious, luxurious and very clean. We had a lovely balcony with fantastic views. Rooftop jacuzzi was phenomenal. Breakfast was 10/10 . We had it served on our balcony and included homemade pastries and local food. With a different type of homemade fruit juice everyday. Ruben was an incredible host and gave us lots of useful information in regards to what we could do in the area. He recommended some beautiful walks , some very good restaurants and even booked us a tour at a a local bodegas. It was very hot during August and although the hotel itself doesn’t have a pool, just a short distance away you can enjoy a nice swim in the municipal swimming pool. Which you can have access to for 2 euros. It was very nice. All in all it was a very pleasant stay and we would definitely go back again.

A lovely modern place to stay in an unspoilt village. Ruben and Magda were charming hosts who did everything possible to make our stay memorable. Local knowledge was excellent. The rooms were clean and luxurious with private sunny terrace. Breakfast was excellent with local specialities and home cooked cakes and pastries. My sister and I stayed there for a walking holiday - the location was ideal and Ruben was able to advise us of spectacular walks in the area.

Ruben is very friendly and very helpful, the rooms are really nice and modern, very clean and have everything you need. Breakfast is lovely too! It’s very close to everything in Orba Village with cafes, bars and restaurants but not too many. A really lovely place.
