I spent four nights here in early March and can't recommend Sala Samui more highly.

March offered exceptional weather. It was hot and sunny each day and the sunset period was especially nice to walk along the beach at Choeng Mon.

The breakfast was outstanding! As well as having diverse a la carte dishes and fresh vegetable and fruit juices to order, the buffet offered lots of fresh options like salads, an egg station, breads, pastries and yoghurts and cereals, as well as popular treats, such as ice cream, especially for younger guests. Lunch and dinner was also delicious, for both Thai and Western food, with plenty of choice and available all day.

The Thai Night, on Thursdays was the best I have experienced. Not only was a lot of the buffet meal. interactive, with chef's cooking different dishes to order and preference for guests, the fire show on the beach was a great show, and the price was reasonable.

What really stood out to me during my stay here was the wonderful friendly team of staff that took such amazing care of me. I noticed how excited return guests were to see staff from their prior visits, and in turn how wonderfully welcome staff made new and return guests feel, especially during mealtimes at the restaurant.

There are two main swimming pools by the beachfront, with plenty of sun-beds and big double sun loungers to relax around these and on the beach. Service here was also excellent for food and drinks, such as fresh coconuts - a Samui specialty. Many rooms also have their own pools.

The villas are definitely the rooms to go for where possible, offering private pools and plenty of space. The deluxe balcony rooms are good value and the large covered balcony with day bed and garden view adds extra space.

It was clear staying here that management and staff genuinely really cared for their guests. It was a stressful time to be travelling away from home for most guests, yet they all felt safe and very indulged with exceptional personal care from the Sala team.

The reduced price massages by the pool for happy hour were a great option too.

Thanks again for a wonderful stay, it was so nice to see everyone so happy with their choice of holidaying on Samui with you.

From the second we made our reservation, we knew this hotel was going to be special! Their customer service is superb and started with any requirements that we might have had prior to our arrival,. The evening we arrived it was as if we had been transported into a magical and luxurious haven. Our room was absolutely beautiful and smelt divine with an oil burner lit discreetly in the room and mosquito coils burning on our balcony. This ritual was done by the amazing housekeeping staff each and every night as well as leaving.a nightly tea in the room. All very personal and giving you the feeling that every guest’s comfort is a priority. Also the round stone bath with overhead monsoon shower in the semi open air bathroom made bathing a very special spa like treat!

Breakfast served by one of the most stunning swimming pools we have ever seen and overlooking the lovely beach was fantastic. Absolutely delicious and so much choice, and if you wanted a variation you just had to mention it to the staff, and they would accommodate your request. Plus a wonderful variety of freshly made therapeutic juices. To be honest breakfast was so good and delicious it kept us going all day.

The resort is low rise and scattered through matured gardens and passageways, making everything feel very intimate, quiet and even when busy you do not notice it. Very zen like, personal and so beautifully peaceful.

The staff are all exceptional, polite and genuinely treat you like a VIP! We loved how the restaurant staff remembered how we took our coffee, what we normally liked to accompany our breakfast etc. On a day when my husband wasn’t feeling well with his back they sent the rest of his breakfast order to our room before I had the chance to ask them if this would be possible. The pool bar/beach staff regularly brought glasses of iced water to your pool or beach chairs to prevent you dehydrating in the hot sun, another very personal service. The reception staff were all amazing too and nothing was too much trouble for them, Amanda in particular was absolutely lovely and kept in regular contact with us prior to our arrival.

If you are looking for a special and unique hotel to recharge your batteries, in a zen like tranquil haven, then look no further! This is by far one of the best hotels in all aspects that we have stayed in during our travels around the world.

We most definitely will be returning to the Sala Choengmon!

I have stayed at The Sala a number of times along and it still remains as my favorite hotel among the many in which I have stayed over the years in Samui, Phuket, Krabi and the like.

The location is outstanding – – it really is on the beach. In fact, I can hear the waves crashing when I leave my windows open on cool evenings. It is also situated in a little community that has everything you need. Great foot massage places, great little restaurants, and a number of other activities within a few minutes’ walking distance of the hotel

The hotel itself is beautiful. It is very well-maintained and is quite luxurious in its design, facilities, and the quality of the room and amenities

The hotel is big enough such that you can have a lot of privacy but at the same it time has a very personal and home-like feel.

The food is fantastic. Lately I have particularly enjoyed the Southern Thai menu selection which is as good as any Thai food I have had in Thailand

All in all, a Sala Samui is a fantastic hotel and well worth the money. I would skip the pricier Ritz Carltons and other high-end hotels for the Samui Sala any day

This is one of the best five-star hotels we have stayed in during the past five years of living in Thailand. The rooms are beautiful and extremely comfortable; the facilities are impeccable; the views are gorgeous; and the food in the restaurant is consistently excellent. However, what makes SALA Samui Choengmon Beach Resort stand out from the crowd is the incredibly high standard of service across every area of the hotel: from Dick the GM and David the Executive Chef to the reception staff, cleaners and concierges. Every staff member was highly efficient and very friendly. I don't remember staying in a hotel with better service and highly recommend Sala.

I stayed here with my husband for 6 nights. We were picked up at the airport and arrived at the hotel in no time. We arrived at 9.30 in the morning and expected to wait a while for check in, so we were delighted to be allocated our room upon arrival. We had a room with our own private pool which was lovely for relaxing at the end of the day. Our room had an outdoor shower and open bathroom which was surprisingly nice. Comfy bed, well stocked mini bar, very comfortable room all round.

Breakfast included a menu of items including a daily special plus I an extensive buffet. Top marks from us, great food, plenty of healthy options and lovely coffee.

Plenty of places to sit around the two pools and attentive poolside staff. Also plenty of loungers on the beach. We used the adult only lap pool which was quiet and surrounded by water lilies. Happy hour is twice a day, poolside with a fab cocktail menu!

We ate in the hotel restaurant twice. We also found excellent local options near by. The Thai night was very good with a huge buffet, thai dancing and music followed by a fire show on the beach. Well worth attending.

The spa is also lovely and I can recommend a Sala massage. The gym has a good range of equipment and the free yoga sessions each morning are excellent.

We don’t usually enjoy resort hotels and get itchy feet after a couple of days... but not here, we just enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere and chilled out the entire time!

Upon leaving our flight was delayed. The reception has no hesitation arranging for us to keep the room for an extra few hours, giving us an extra morning poolside. I can’t think of another hotel I have stayed at where check in and check out was so easy. It made such a difference and made it feel like a longer break.

I highly recommend this hotel... fabulous!

Nice room, all the details. The black pool beautiful. The breakfast with special fresh detox juice and special orders eggs and toast every day different flavor. We receive specials flowers, Prosecco sparkling wine for our 10th anniversary! Candles is the room and roses in the bathtub. The restaurant is a little overpriced but you can walk just some steps outside and you will find a lot of other options.

Love the hotel design but the service is inconsistent. Staff are friendly, but there is a lot lost in translation, or maybe apathy!

At check in they asked us to choose our pillows and scents for the bath soaps, but upon entering our room, none of our choices were in the room! No big deal, we just used the app to order the pillows and soaps again. While at the beach the app says our order was completed but when we got back to our room we only received one pillow and one soap and we ordered two of each. We left our room again and followed up with them to deliver another one and they responded that they had already delivered it so we assumed it was done again. But when we returned at the end of the day there was nothing! Again, it was no big deal- we just told them to deliver it the next day which they finally did.

The next morning at breakfast my husband went to get juice at the buffet and when he opened the bottle, it exploded and juice went everywhere. He thought it was unusual but just filled his glass anyway, but when he went to drink it, it smelled rotten. We told the wait staff that the juice may be bad and she came over and apologized profusely saying it was her fault and she was meant to check the juices in that morning but did not. She felt really bad. But we understand that this happens, so we let it pass. But they also got our breakfast order wrong a number of times.

We attended yoga and after the class the instructor apologized for not having any towels for us (as it was a really hot day), and she said they were locked in a closet and she didn't have a key. There was also a member of their staff taking photos during the yoga session which I thought was inappropriate and very distracting. If they are want photos for promotion they should be asking for consent.

Anyway...the last complaint I had was that we originally booked for two nights online. Upon check in they said we had a 20% discount on food at the restaurant. We decided to extend our stay for a third night online and then again for a fourth night by just telling the hotel. I confirmed with them on the third night about the discount and they said yes, so we ate at the restaurant assuming we still had the discount and the staff said they would apply it during checkout, but when we received our bill the next day there was no discount added. I followed up with them and they said because we extended our stay online for the third night(which we did for our first booking as well) we did not get the discount. Honestly we only ate at the restaurant because we thought we had this discount because it is way overpriced. In the end, after pressing them they said we could have the discount.

Turn down service was also hit and miss- sometimes they cleaned our coffee cups and sometimes not.

It also took them more than 1 hour to deliver ice because they sent it to the wrong room- with multiple follow ups (see photos and look at the time).

So, some of these things were not that big of a deal, but when you add it all up it just didn't make for a seamless stay. It's a shame, the property is nice but if the service can't deliver then I'd be tempted to stay somewhere else on our return to Samui. Would be good for them to have some kind of quality control or more staff training.

The beach, facilities and accommodation were beautiful. We stayed in a pool villa with a nice open bathroom. Staff was friendly and helpful.

We loved the long stretch of beach, which was great for running or walking. We also enjoyed availability of stand-up-paddle boards and kayak, which were free of charge for the hotels guests. We liked the spa treatments too.

The restaurant was over priced. We got the bill for lunch and the server realized we were not outside guests - he said he needed to fix our bill. We thought “oh great we get a discount for being hotel guest” but when the bill came back it was actually 400 baht more. We asked why and they said they have a 15% promotion for outside guest, but hotel guest pay more. This makes no sense. It’s usually the other way around. After that we ate outside the hotel at the nearby Melia, which had great meal choice for a reasonable value.

Other than those minor things, the stay was excellent and would come back again.

I cannot tell you how much we love this hotel. Any criticisms I have are purely subjective and didn’t hinder our stay at all. Also many of the things I would have liked to be different, to fix them would create different problems, so leave some of them as they are.

I loved the room and its outdoor bathroom. I LIVED for the outdoor shower and bathroom. I loved them so much!

The prices for everything were very reasonable for a high end hotel, besides the spa (but then every hotel prices too high in the spas, it would be nice for one to break the mould). The food and drink prices were very, very good.

They have an app they get you to download It made asking for things and talking with reception super easy and frictionless without a language problem, as it’s all over a messaging system. They responded quickly.

The pools, the restaurant and bars are perfect. Not too light, not too dark. It felt like a boutique hotel. Intermit and inviting. Some of the large chairs in the restaurant are too big to move, so you can’t get close the the table. But that’s the only thing I could fault. The food was fanatic. The head chef should be commended for the al la carte menu. Breakfast dishes off the menu, were relatable yet perfectly elevated. The chocolate cakes were rich in honey. I loved the food. All the chefs should be highly praised for executing the head chefs dishes perfectly and consistently.

Every single member of staff was perfect. Friendly without being overbearing, and leave you in peace without being too far away. Doing anything in the hotel felt frictionless, such as using the beach equipment. It was so nice to use this without filling in silly forms.

To all the staff that made this such a special place.

This was our favourite hotel stay ever and we will absolutely will be back.

This hotel is located in a quiet part of island, 20 min. away from airport and centrum.
There is nice beach, great services. Rooms are really clean and breakfast fabulous.
Whole staff is working hardly to satisfy your wishes. Only one problem for us - very noisy air con in the room. Even with earplugs was quite noisy. Claiming today in reception, will see...
This is the reason for only 4🟢
Food and drinks are little bit overpriced, but good.

Dear “Pietro006”, Thank you very much for taking the time to post a review on TripAdvisor, and thank you for your positive feedback! We are however very sorry about the aircon. We change at least 30% of all the compressors and coil condensing units every year, and we do in-depth maintenance of every unit at least twice per year, and also regularly check the decibel levels. Being in the tropics, the aircon units many times work 24 hours a day and are subject to very heavy use. Kindly accept our most sincere apologies, and we will remedy this defective unit ASAP. We are happy to read that apart from this you are overall happy with your stay, and on behalf of the entire team we would like to welcome you back to SALA Samui on Choengmon Beach on a future stay.
