The location of the hotel is near by the major attractions in Athens , the staffs are good, you have two free drinks in the garden rooftop bar that we did not used because of the bad weather . The price is not expensive so I recommend this hotel fir its location.

This was our second visit to the Plaka hotel in one year and it was as good as before. The location is excellent, right in the centre of things, with masses of restaurants, bars, shops and sightseeing within 15 minutes walk. Staff are as friendly and helpful as ever, rooms are spacious and well appointed. One of the highlights of... More

I had booked an AirB&B for a 2 night stay in Athens. It was in the Monasteriki district and I thought it would be great as we are traveling with my son and his girlfriend. The place was horrid and it had no heat! At the last minute we found the Plaka Hotel and we couldn't be happier. The rooms... More

The Plaka was perfect for a couple of days in Athens. Within walking distance of most of the sites and a Metro station 2 blocks away at Monastraki. Good neighborhood, lots of restaurants nearby. Nice rooftop bar with sofas for viewing the Acropolis at night. Superior room with balcony was not what I would have expected.

As everyone has raved about, location is terrific - close to transpo, flea market, shops, cafes, churches and historic sites - plus staff are gracious and helpful. I talked to the receptionist about booking a taxi as my husband and I had an early flight and the metro service to the airport starts only at 6 a.m. She suggested the... More

Hotel is located a few minutes walk from both Syntagma and Monastraki metro stations. 45 minute trip from Airport on metro costs €10. On arrival at Hotel Plaka I was warmly welcomed and offered 2 room options, of course I accepted the Acropolis view room (410) instead of a larger double room with just street view. To wake up each... More

Plaka Hotel was very nice - comfortable, clean, great staff and location, great breakfast. Located right in the heart of the Plaka with awesome view of the Acropolis. Great rooftop terrace where you could enjoy coffee or drinks. Really nice, big breakfast.

We chose the Plaka Hotel for its location and it was perfect, with a supermarket almost next door, shops on the doorstep, and walking distance to Monasteraki station. The rooftop bar was great for a late afternoon drink, enjoying the view as night fell and the Acropolis was lit up. Breakfast was extensive, and the lounge was an unexpected surprise... More

Staying in Plaka

Neighbourhood Profile
Plaka
Due to its proximity to the Acropolis, Plaka remains the area where the majority of foreign visitors stay and play. Its attractive features include small squares, some notable museums and the beautiful Mitropolis cathedral, as well as a host of places to stay, eat and drink. Its pedestrian zones make it a pleasant place to escape from the city’s notorious traffic. Adrianou and Kidathineon Streets contain a number of souvenir shops, offering classier items than you will find in the Flea Market. The most rewarding section to explore is the upper reaches towards the Acropolis itself, where many old stone houses with tiled roofs have survived. Up here you can find leafier corners and the odd quaint taverna with unobstructed views of the ancient rock.
