I travel internationally a lot. Arriving at night and seeing the Acropolis lit up from the roof deck bar was spectacular! The breakfast offering will satisfy given all the options they provide. Clean, safe and close to the metro, I strongly recommend this hotel for any traveler.

The hotel is suitable for a brief stay. The room was a bit cramped, with a bit outdated furniture. However the bed was excellent and the aico worked well. The breakfast was excellent. There is a nice roof terrace with view on the Acropolis and a small pool. The staff is friendly and helpful. The main disadvantage of the hotel...

Very friendly staff, but very basic accommodation ready for a thorough refurbishment. Decent breakfast served however. The roof top "swimming pool" is a good joke, it has only the size of a small hot tub.

I stayed here for 3 nights recently. My room was a decent size. There was a fruit basket, bottle of water, and small bottle of wine waiting for me when I arrived. There was also a kettle, with tea and coffee making supplies. There is one restaurant on the main floor. Buffet breakfast is included with the room. The buffet...

Hotel Candia is a substandard hotel. Upon arrival with our student group I was given room 202 which smelled like sewage and had not been thoroughly cleaned. Others in our group also complained about a bad smell in their rooms. Within a few hours I changed to room 523, which smelled better and was cleaner although if you opened a...

4 stars? Is that a joke? 2 stars is more realistic. We have paid for 2 nights and left after one. Breakfast closes at 9.30 in weekends and the waiters clean around you when you are still eating, no hot water, very noisy, bad quality furniture, dirty, scary elevator and a receptionist sitting while talking to his clients.

We stayed four nights in this hotel and it was perfect for the price we paid. The room was clean and the beds were good. Nothing too fancy but was to the point and efficient. It's conveniently a couple of metro stops from the Acropolis, Monostraki, and Syntagma Square which was a plus. If you're looking for an economical, not...

I took a school party of 18 students (16 to 18 year olds) to Athens and we stayed at Candia Hotel. This hotel has transformed itself to specialise in groups. The rooms were clean, the food was reasonable and the location was good, 3 stops on the metro to the city center. The hotel is not in a scenic part...

We went on an organized trip to Greece. Our tour organizer had booked this hotel. First room with the view of the petrol pump was a little small but amazingly clean. The bed-sheets and towels were speck less and crisp. The WiFi was great. Second room(We came back from islands and stayed again at this hotel for 1 more day)...

The hotel facilities are poor : a very small bathroom in a small bedroom. Matrasses are very hard to sleep on. Noisy vicinity (dense traffic on the road and the trains on the railroad). Noisy atmosphere with large groups of students in teh entry hall, the elevators and the corridors. Breakfast is good, but the quality of lunch and dinner...

Staying in Exarchia

Neighbourhood Profile
Exarchia is in many ways Athens’ best-kept secret, discovered by relatively few international visitors. Located behind the main University and Polytechnic buildings, it is unsurprisingly home to many students, intellectuals and politicos. This is reflected in the area’s vibrant street art and graffiti, which seems to cover almost every inch of wall space. Some of the best Athenian tavernas are located here, as well as its most alternative bars and underground music venues. You'll find political bookshops and quirky stores here, yet it is also a neighborhood inhabited by families and older folk. On Saturdays, punks and grandmothers alike head for Kallidromiou Street, nestled below Strefi Hill, to pick up fresh produce at the traditional laiki agora (street market).
