Undoubtedly old town Plaka is the place to stay when in Athens. Windling and cosy (and dark in the night - street lightning is sparse...) and with Acropolis as a backdrop the area gives the tourist much of the genuine feeling of the old Athens. Electra Palace offers old charm (originally built for the first modern Olympic games in 1896)...

Hotel is parallel to Ermu street (the walking street), at the edge of the Plaka. Very nice lobby, nice and rich Greek breakfast, rooms are small but cosy. Quiet street, close to many attractions Good value for money.

Firstly i must point out that the hotel Is not 5 star near to 3,5 stars. It is located near all major attractions, it has a roof top with a partial view of the acropolis and a pool. Reception staff friendly and helpful. I had a room on the fourth floor. It was extremely hot even though I turned off...

very friendly staff, center of city however out of the noisy streets of Syntagma Square (parliament square). Surrounded by nice wine bars, ten minutes walk from Plaka. Book a room with Acropolis view, really worth it!

Although the staff were excellent and could not be faulted, the hotel itself was not 5 star. The location is certainly central with easy access to all the tourist areas surrounding Plaka, however the property is located in a less than salubrious back street which rather depresses on arrival. The lobby and reception promise much and are elegantly decorated. It's...

We planned our trip to include just one night in Athens after disembarking from a cruise. Our criteria were- nice rooms, great views, in the Plaka, restaurant in the hotel if possible. This hotel hits all of our points and more. The view from our room on the sixth floor was amazing. We had a balcony with a dining set...

This location is fantastic, it is right in the Plaka district just a few minutes walk from Syntagma square and it is close enough to the Acropolis. The service at this hotel was great. They were very accommodating. We forgot our strollers here when we checked out and the staff was very helpful in getting them back to us. The...

Staying in Plaka

Neighbourhood Profile
Plaka
Due to its proximity to the Acropolis, Plaka remains the area where the majority of foreign visitors stay and play. Its attractive features include small squares, some notable museums and the beautiful Mitropolis cathedral, as well as a host of places to stay, eat and drink. Its pedestrian zones make it a pleasant place to escape from the city’s notorious traffic. Adrianou and Kidathineon Streets contain a number of souvenir shops, offering classier items than you will find in the Flea Market. The most rewarding section to explore is the upper reaches towards the Acropolis itself, where many old stone houses with tiled roofs have survived. Up here you can find leafier corners and the odd quaint taverna with unobstructed views of the ancient rock.
