I arrived at the hotel having requested a room with a view and what a view it was!! The main gates of the National gardens was just opposite with the House of Parliament to the left and beyond I could see the hills of Hymettus. What made my stay special though was the excellent service with a smile I got...

When we first arrived at the Hotel Amalia I was a bit overwhelmed. The sidewalk and lobby were packed with people. Check in was quick and efficient. Room was standard size and bathroom had good counter space. We quickly realized that we were in a very convenient spot. Near the Plaka and many other attractions. There were several coffee shops...

Central location, modern bath, quiet once inside our room, helpful front desk staff, good not great housekeeping service and amenities, terrific breakfast (try the sour cherries)...A bargain for 140 Euros.

We had a view of the national gardens and the parliament. Once the balcony doors were shut it was very quiet. The room was fairly spacious and a great bathroom, although it was a shower curtain arrangement but very clean. We could walk everywhere and the bus to the airport was around the corner. The staff at the desk were...

We chose Greece as a spontaneous option for a our very delayed anniversary trip. We did club it with one of the Greek islands- Santorini ( the very beautiful blue &white island). The Amalia hotel was chosen after much deliberation and we got a steal deal for this 4 star hotel. Rooms are very clean, the staff was very helpful...

Visit May 2015 - this is the third time we have stayed at the Amalia Athens and have never been disappointed. This time we treated ourselves to a 3 night stay in the corner suite on the 6th floor - the suite had everything we needed including complimentary wine & fruit on arrival. The views from the balcony were spectacular...

Good hotel and in a perfect location! Metro is 2 minutes walk away. Room was a good size and bed very comfortable. Breakfast was good too, with lots of choice. Staff friendly ........ a pleasant stay. I would stay here again.

Our room was normal-sized with views of a concrete wall in front of the window. We could not even see the sky looking up. The toilet is tiny, with a really small shower with a not-too-clean curtain that stuck to your body. Not a pleasant experience when getting a shower. We were excited when we arrived to have a drink...

I stayed here for two nights at the start of a business trip. The hotel has a good location near everything, the staff are helpful, and the hotel itself is lovely. The room was large and comfortable and the wifi was reliable and the shower had great water pressure. Possibly the best aspect was the spread at breakfast. There was...

Staying in Syntagma

Neighbourhood Profile
Perhaps the best place to get your bearings is Syntagma Square, crowned by the imposing Parliament building on its upper side and surrounded by other large structures, such as the exclusive Hotel Grande Bretagne. The grand avenues that lead towards Omonia are also full of massive Neoclassical edifices like the Numismatic Museum and those around smaller Platia Kolokotroni. Here you will find lots of travel agents, bookshops and fashion shops, especially on Ermou Street. Just south of Syntagma Square, you can take a breather in the lush National Gardens, which extend into the grounds of the Zappeio palace and beyond to the ancient Temple of Olympian Zeus.
