Yes, the view--especially at night from the terasse--is amazing, and the location is not too bad if you don't mind walking several long blocks. My room was on the first floor and was a little larger, but opened into a below-ground area. I wanted to open the windows but was afraid cats or critters might come in! The bed was...

This hotel is so close to the Acropolis and all the other attractions nearby, such as Socrates prison seven seat place Parthenon etc. Athens has a good transport system easy enough to get around on. We had the basic room but still had a nice enough view but no balcony. There is a rooftop view anyway. Breakfast ok continental style....

Clean hotel, friendly staff, comfortable beds, stunning views, fantastically placed near many great tavernes. We even got help from our friendly receptionist printning out our boarding pass. An all round enjoyable experience.

The hotel was very clean, though rooms were a bit small. The hotel's view and location, though! WOW. It is right at the base of Acropolis Hill and the terrace on the roof is SPECTACULAR. The value of this hotel is really great! It's not luxury, but it was clean, nice, reasonably updated & very close to Plaka as well.

Not too big, close to Acropolis and to Plaka, very nice hotel. The staff always helpful. With a group of 20 people we had wonderful time in Athens, partly thanks to the hotel. That's why I was twice in the same hotel.

This hotel has an incredible view of the Acropolis. The staff is kind. Breakfast is very adequate. They even insisted on preparing for us at 3am on day of our departure. The room is basic but clean. If you're looking for a budget hotel in a great location. This is it.

The reasonably large and seemingly clean room with a very effective air conditioning system was comfortable for the one night that we stayed. With only 24 hours to walk the Plaka, visit the Acropolis Museum and then a bus tour of Athens with Acropolis walking tour, we benefited from this hotel location below Mars Hill and the entrance to the...

The location is perfect walking distance to Acropolis and old town. The hotel is very noisy...indoors noise, outside noise. The so called renovations....hmmm...more like polishing a turd. It was mostly clean. Front desk check in was 'rough around the edges' but still nice. If u are in a pinch for a place, it suffices....otherwise keep looking.

Fantastic views both on balcony of room and especially the Rooftop deck from historic center of Athens Breakfast traditional Greek fare. I love the Greek yogurt and honey. The Acropolis is a short walk away as is the Plaka. We walked the neighborhood late at night to get over jetlag and that was a highlight of our trip There are...

I am giving this hotel a 5 star rating for location and great staff. Normally, a 5 star hotel would consist of a luxury hotel and all amenities, but this one truly deserves it! Staff is amazing, especially Dimitris. So friendly and helpful! The breakfast was great and a variety of fresh food, fruit, meats. View from rooftop is simply...

Staying in Thissio / Makriyanni

Neighbourhood Profile
Thissio / Makriyanni
Named after the well-preserved Thission (ancient temple of Hephaestus), Thissio is blessed with a small wooded park and some less frenetic streets that offer numerous quieter places to stay and eat. Largely pedestrianised Apostolou Pavlou Street runs between the Acropolis and forested Filopappou Hill, well worth climbing for more great panoramas, until it merges with Dionysiou Areopagitou Street. This leads to the up-and-coming area of Makriyanni, whose centrepiece is the magnificent new Acropolis Museum. Opposite the museum is the entrance to the southern slopes of the Acropolis, while the eponymous metro station nearby is at the top of Makriyanni Street, another strip of touristic cafés and restaurants.
