We really enjoyed our stay at this hotel. Its location is perfect. The room and its amenities were great, the large double bed was very comfortable and the balcony with a view of The Parthenon was a bonus. The location could not have been better as everything we wanted to visit was within walking distance of the hotel. We ate... More

We stayed here for three nights and enjoyed it very much! The staff was friendly (I don't know what happened to the reviewer below who ran into someone at the front desk who was rude). Everyone spoke excellent English and was helpful. The room was clean and comfortable. The hotel has a great location, just around the corner from the... More

We loved this hotel. Ideally located near to all the main sights and close to some excellent restaurants. The room had everything we needed and the bed was super comfortable. Do try the roof top bar for a drink or a meal. The staff there and in the rest of the hotel are super friendly and the view must be... More

Nice and quiet hotel in an excellent location - not only because of the proximity to the Acropolis but also the neighbourhood is vibrant in the evening with restaurant gardens. Good rooftop restaurant with a unique view of the Acropolis hill. Room was OK, tea/coffee making facilities was a much welcome bonus. Fast and stable WiFi. Standard hotel breakfast, however... More

Nice hotel and great location. However, the customer service was just horrible. The little short man with a beard working the front desk was terribly rude. This man has no business working in customer service! We had a large family group of 14 people, and he was rude with all of us.

Dear guest, Thank you for staying at Hera hotel. I am glad that you liked our hotel and location. Regarding your comments on our front desk agent, I am sorry to hear about them. As I recall your situation, there was a misunderstanding with your room reservations. You had booked less rooms than what you needed and upon arrival the... More

We stayed here for three nights and thought it was a great value and location. The rooms and hotel were well styled, and comfortable. The breakfast included was great and the best we had in greece over our two week trip.

Location is perfect for Athens; literally a walk away from the Acropolis and accessible by public transit, restaurants, etc. Staff are really nice, the rooms are clean, and some rooms also have a nice view of the street below. Rooftop restaurant also has a great view. Breakfast was decent as well with a wide selection.

View of the Acropolis from the rooftop restaurant is wonderful. You could complain about about the view from the rooms... but geeze get out and visit Athens! So convenient to all the best of Athens, and great well priced rooms, great food, fantastic staff, call it perfection.

Small boutique city hotel. Junior Suite on fourth floor with amazing view of Acropolis from large balcony. Room was good but would have been more comfortable with less furniture. Rooftop restaurant also has great views of Acropolis and the service there was fantastic, as it was at the front desk and at the ample breakfast. Very friendly staff. We were... More

The hotel and rooms are average. Unfortunately, when we arrived into our room the sheets on our freshly made bed were dirty, and the tub had dirt and hair in it. We alerted the front desk and they offered us free drinks upstairs in the restaurant while they corrected this matter. This incident, along with overall room and bathroom cleanliness... More

Staying in Thissio / Makriyanni

Neighbourhood Profile
Thissio / Makriyanni
Named after the well-preserved Thission (ancient temple of Hephaestus), Thissio is blessed with a small wooded park and some less frenetic streets that offer numerous quieter places to stay and eat. Largely pedestrianised Apostolou Pavlou Street runs between the Acropolis and forested Filopappou Hill, well worth climbing for more great panoramas, until it merges with Dionysiou Areopagitou Street. This leads to the up-and-coming area of Makriyanni, whose centrepiece is the magnificent new Acropolis Museum. Opposite the museum is the entrance to the southern slopes of the Acropolis, while the eponymous metro station nearby is at the top of Makriyanni Street, another strip of touristic cafés and restaurants.
