I stayed for one month after trying two other hostels in Athens. I stayed in three different rooms. Location: Very near the Acropolis, 5 minutes from Syntagma, 12 minutes from Monastiraki, and a free walking tour starts just across the road. Being out of the city centre and not a party hostel meant it was nice and quiet at night.... More

There was nothing really special about this hostel other than the perfect location. If all you need is a place to sleep, it's good but I wouldn't spend more time than needed. The bathrooms really need to be updated, but the rooms were fine and everything was clean. The staff didn't go out of their way to help us, but... More

I know the term 'service' and 'hostel' don't always fit in the same positive sentence. The location was great. The Plaka is the best place to stay. We considered staying in Monstraki. But really pleased we stayed in this area instead. Was a great base and easy to pop back to during the day in between touristing. It was very... More

The place is easy to find and superbly located. Staff is helpful. Prices are cheap and you actually get (a modest but filling) breakfast for free. There is a lovely courtyard to hang around, eat, read, socialize etc, Its surrounded with greenery and some cats :) Room I stayed in (3-bed female dorm) was very small and modest, with old-fashioned... I stayed here for three nights and i enjoy it very much. The staff are wonderful, friendly and very helpful. The maid named Yola is super hard working and friendly. The place is old but everything is functional and enough. The 4 bed female dorm is good, there is air con in the room. Bathrooms are clean during the day... More

Thought the hostel for the most part was great. I stayed for 4 nights in January 2016 and even though it was the off-season as it was winter there were still heaps of people staying there. I got a dorm room for 10 euro a night which I thought was awesome. 24 hour reception and the hostel has an excellent... More

I booked the wrong day and didn't realize it until I got there. The guy at the front desk was nice enough to change my reservation to that day. I was there for a long layover and just wanted somewhere to sleep. He saved my night. They have wifi, the bathrooms are good as well. 24 hour front desk service.... More

Staying in Plaka

Neighbourhood Profile
Plaka
Due to its proximity to the Acropolis, Plaka remains the area where the majority of foreign visitors stay and play. Its attractive features include small squares, some notable museums and the beautiful Mitropolis cathedral, as well as a host of places to stay, eat and drink. Its pedestrian zones make it a pleasant place to escape from the city’s notorious traffic. Adrianou and Kidathineon Streets contain a number of souvenir shops, offering classier items than you will find in the Flea Market. The most rewarding section to explore is the upper reaches towards the Acropolis itself, where many old stone houses with tiled roofs have survived. Up here you can find leafier corners and the odd quaint taverna with unobstructed views of the ancient rock.
