We stayed at this hotel for around 5 nights. The location is ideal with direct metro line to the airport and Pireus. Its right in the centre of Athens, but on a quiet pedestrian street, so you can walk everywhere and no need to worry about noise if you're a light sleeper. Most other hotels in the area seem to...

We had 2 nights at the hotel and although basic, the service from those on reception was really fantastic. The room and bathroom were clean and basic but still had character. We had an amazing view from the balcony towards the acropolis and doubt you could get a better location for the cost. It is a budget hotel though but...

Chose Hotel Tempi for its quiet but central location, communal kitchen, luggage storage, and very reasonable rates (including discount for one week stay). We are delighted by the view of the Acropolis from our balcony and, on the square below, the flower market. The shower is hot, beds comfortably firm with nice linen, service excellent, and (surprisingly) wireless internet., What...

Hotel Tempi is a budget hotel so do not expect 5 star rooms etc etc. The hotel ownerYiannis, his wife and all the staff speak great English and are very helpful, friendly ppl. We stayed there for 10 nights, started off late Sept for 5nights, then went around Greece.there for another 3 nights and then another 2 before we went...

Pros 1) The location - good. 2) The owner & reception - good. I've asked for a nice room with view as i booked very early. They have specially arrange for their best room for me. Althru it's nothing fantastic but it's definitely their best room. Cons 1) The room looks dirty and old 2) The shower is going to...

We have just returned form 3 nights in Hotel Tempi. Just like anyone else has written, the location of this hotel is perfect. We booked a triple room, but the first night we had to stay in a double room (room 11) with an extra "bed". Not that bad, but I can imagine that if you have back problems you...

Book here only if you need somewhere to crash after sightseeing all day! This isn't the coziest of places for chilling out and making yourself at home. It worked for us since we only stayed one night in Athens (a big, ugly, dirty city covered in graffiti, but a must for seeing the Acropolis and such), but for three of...

Your basic traveller's hotel. Small rooms, clean though, and they were very loud at night with all the doors slamming around you. Convenient location, a bit overpriced for what it was, but then again so was Athens...don't expect the desk staff to be very helpful with travel arrangements, etc.

Stayed for 4 days in late August. The hotel is in a can not be beaten location. Steps to dozens of attractions and a direct subway ride from the airport. So much so close that we only got away from the area one time in our whole stay to catch the National Museum. The room was clean and well kept....

Our experience in Tempi Hotel was so unpleasant that i couldn't wait to avoid others to go there. We spent there 2 nights, and everything seemed to be OK, understanding by Ok the average of Athens hotels for this price. But of course is not what you expect for that price... it looks more like a youth hostel, which is...

Staying in Monastiraki

Neighbourhood Profile
Monastiraki
Monastiraki is a souvenir-hunting enclave with a difference. Apart from the dramatic backdrop of the Acropolis, its network of alleys and pedestrianized streets surround the remains of both the Greek and Roman agoras, adding the quaint concept that this is where the ancients also came to shop. Named after the tiny monastery church at its center, Monastiraki Square is a lively spot by day or night, with street peddlers vying for your attention to sell you nuts and sweets. Down beside the metro station, the official Flea Market is an unbroken row of souvenir shops until you come to antique-oriented Platia Avissinias, while Pandrossou Street on the other side of the square offers more tourist shopping. The pedestrianized street beside the Greek Agora is lined with cafés offering fine views.
