Stayed at the Hotel Myrto in Athens in September 2016. It's a well maintained hotel with an extremely friendly and accommodating staff. I chose it as I was only staying overnight and it was at a very reasonable price. Rooms are small, but include free Wi-Fi, small mini-fridge, and TV -- all you need for a one night stay.

I've given the hotel a 5 rating because it is such good value for money. It doesn't claim to be a luxury hotel, but it excels at what it does - giving great accommodation in the very centre of Athens. The exterior of the hotel doesn't give the best first impression, however look past that as the bedrooms have been...

This is a nice little place right in the middle of the best of Athens. We had the top floor room with a good sized terrace and a view of the Acropolis. Room was well equipped if a little small and had a separate dressing room up a small ladder/stair. Staff were extremely helpful and conscientious, especially in that the...

Good for a quick stop over of 1 or 2 nights but i wouldn't recommend too much more. Location is great but the hotel is very basic. The staff at reception were however extremely helpful. The lift only fits a suitcase or two and no people so probably best to stay on a lower floor.

We stayed two nights July 19 and 20th of 2016 and this is a the most amazing budget hotel you will ever find in Athens. It is literately half a block from Plaka and at the most 10 minutes away from the Acropolis. The staff and front desk will drop whatever they are doing to help or simply answer a...

We cannot say enough good things about the location- easy walking distance of the major tourist sites in Athens, and from the airport bus stop. We did not go to Athens to hang out in our hotel room, so this worked great for us! The room was nothing special, but clean. The bed was a bit squeaky. Wifi was slow...

I would consider the Myrto hotel to be a budget hotel. It is located in the area of Plaka. It only took us about 10 to 15 minutes to get to the Acropolis. The hotel is surrounded by walking streets and great restaurants. Front staff were great and gave us lots of ideas on where to eat. Our room had...

Great location for visiting main Athens attractions. Walking distance from major train or bus stations. Room had fridge and tv but no safe. The hotel and room were clean and staff were friendly. Good choice for budget hotel.

My favorite place to stay in Plaka. I've stayed here several times over the past years and plan to return. A nice, unassuming building on a residential street on the outskirts of Plaka, away from the tourist bustle but still conveniently close to the X95 airport bus stop in Syntagma, the Acropolis, restaurants, museums, and other sites of interest. Clean,...

Arriving at the airport we took the X95 bus with final destination the Syntagma Square (a 3 minute walk from the hotel). Using a map it was very easy to find the hotel and we were there in no time. The location of the hotel is very convenient for any type of travellers and it made our 4 night stay...

Staying in Plaka

Neighbourhood Profile
Plaka
Due to its proximity to the Acropolis, Plaka remains the area where the majority of foreign visitors stay and play. Its attractive features include small squares, some notable museums and the beautiful Mitropolis cathedral, as well as a host of places to stay, eat and drink. Its pedestrian zones make it a pleasant place to escape from the city’s notorious traffic. Adrianou and Kidathineon Streets contain a number of souvenir shops, offering classier items than you will find in the Flea Market. The most rewarding section to explore is the upper reaches towards the Acropolis itself, where many old stone houses with tiled roofs have survived. Up here you can find leafier corners and the odd quaint taverna with unobstructed views of the ancient rock.
