A small family run hotel situated in a good location in Plaka which is ideal for all the tourist attractions. Hotel is very clean and provides a more than adequate continental style breakfast. The staff are very pleasant and Maria on reception was extremely helpful with lots of information regarding the local area and sights. Close to all transport links....

I was excited to stay at this hotel my last night in Greece before I flew home. The location was great, the reception was friendly and the room seemed clean. Until my friend and I woke up the next morning with what I thought were mosquito bites, which got progressively worse and worse throughout the day. At first we weren't...

This hotel is clean and comfortable, However the main sort of attraction is its mirrors on walls and ceilings!! Ideas from friends went from is it a knocking shop to perhaps they are just keen on mirrors!! Sorry but there it is!! The sheer novelty factor is worth it alone. Room 26 had a mirrored ceiling if you wan to...

Let's start with the good news: the location of the hotel is great. It's close to transportation and most tourist destinations. The hotel staff is also quite friendly, and has provided me with tips on where to go. The hotel room I had was rather basic, and perhaps needed a bit of an upgrade. There was a nice, quiet AC...

Such a nice little family-owned hotel. The accommodations are extremely affordable and clean. We just stayed for one quick night, but if you were spending a few days in Athens, this isn't a bad spot for experiencing the city. The location is right in the center of Plaka, which is perfect for shopping, nightlife and restaurants, as well as visiting...

I visit Athens just about every summer, staying for a couple of weeks. I have tried various hotels over the years; the Nefeli is my favorite. It is in a safe area; it is very clean; the staff is very hospitable and helpful. And as others have said, the location is hard to beat. In the historic residential area of...

In our room was disgusting smell. Old furniture, dirty walls. Forget about changing of towels. The bathroom was awful with running water. Breakfast better take in the nearest tavern. I don't like this hotel, However it's close to the Acropolis.

Dear Juliet P, Thank you for your recent stay at Nefeli hotel. I am glad that you found our hotel’s location convenient. Indeed it is situated in Plaka, the old district of Athens, which is very close to Acropolis. We just went through a soft refurbishment, which included the painting of the walls, so I am very surprised that you...

Staying in Plaka

Neighbourhood Profile
Plaka
Due to its proximity to the Acropolis, Plaka remains the area where the majority of foreign visitors stay and play. Its attractive features include small squares, some notable museums and the beautiful Mitropolis cathedral, as well as a host of places to stay, eat and drink. Its pedestrian zones make it a pleasant place to escape from the city’s notorious traffic. Adrianou and Kidathineon Streets contain a number of souvenir shops, offering classier items than you will find in the Flea Market. The most rewarding section to explore is the upper reaches towards the Acropolis itself, where many old stone houses with tiled roofs have survived. Up here you can find leafier corners and the odd quaint taverna with unobstructed views of the ancient rock.
