We are an older couple 65+. This hotel is also older, but clean. Its location is excellent with easy walking access to all major sites: Acropolis, Acropolis Museum, Dionysius' Theatre, Plaka Neighborhood, Hadrian's Gate and Zeus' Temple, Syntagma Square, National Gardens and more. Service and advice from staff was very helpful (a compact easily folded map of Athens they gave...

Stayed over in the hotel whilst swopping flights in Athens, as love to have diner at night in the plaka area and not be stucked at the airport.Hotel in is the middle of the plaka area, short to Syntagma square,Acropolis. Rooms are basic but clean. Very friendly hotel staff. would recommend the hotel to explore Athens.

The hotel is in the most perfect location in Plaka in Athens. We arrived late in the evening and the taxi driver had a difficulty finding it, which I felt didn't bode well for our arrival. However, we were delivered safely although in the dark it did look like we were staying at the bottom of a series of dark...

The hotel itself is very nice and in a great quiet location in the Plaka area. The front desk staff and morning breakfast staff are friendly and helpful. We only stayed 1 night. The room is clean and average. Satisfying breaky of boiled eggs, several breads with jam and cheese and includes coffee. We stayed here from a hotwire mystery...

Easy walk to Syntagma and Monastiraki stations. Located in heart of Plaka, convenient to Acropolis and major sites. Clean, modest rooms. Simple, good breakfast as part of the room rate. We would stay there again.

I have just returned from a most enjoyable week in Athens, where I stayed at the Nefeli Hotel. This was my 25th trip to this fascinating city and I have stayed at the Nefeli for well over one hundred nights in total over the past twenty years. I have always found the hotel to be completely clean and comfortable and...

Worst night ever! There were bed bugs in the bed. I slept for 2 hours and left. They didn´t do anything to make me feel better. My body is full of itchy bites. Besides were they very unflexible at reception. We planed to stay together (2 People), but I came on my own. They didn´t make any discount that I...

Centrally located, very close to Acropolis and all major Ancient Athens sites. I chose this hotel because of the price and location based on the Acropolis location and then it appeared to be a great cross of very beautiful old streets and all the main tourist sites can be reached walking. Friendly staff, basic breakfast. I definitely recommend.

Stayed here for 5 nights in April 2014. Ideally located, and reasonably priced, staff were very friendly and room was cleaned daily. Although a small room, it was enough for our needs, however, the real disappointment was the bathroom - a shower curtain that didn't reach the tray, and the shower itself had the be held by hand - there...

My boyfriend and I booked this hotel based on location and price and we were very happy with our choice. The area is fantastic, very close to the sites and both the Syntagma and monostiraki metros. The hotel room itself was small, with a tiny 1 person shower, but we are backpacking and not looking for frills. Breakfast was simple,...

Staying in Plaka

Neighbourhood Profile
Plaka
Due to its proximity to the Acropolis, Plaka remains the area where the majority of foreign visitors stay and play. Its attractive features include small squares, some notable museums and the beautiful Mitropolis cathedral, as well as a host of places to stay, eat and drink. Its pedestrian zones make it a pleasant place to escape from the city’s notorious traffic. Adrianou and Kidathineon Streets contain a number of souvenir shops, offering classier items than you will find in the Flea Market. The most rewarding section to explore is the upper reaches towards the Acropolis itself, where many old stone houses with tiled roofs have survived. Up here you can find leafier corners and the odd quaint taverna with unobstructed views of the ancient rock.
