I have never imagined in my life that there are so horrible places anywhere in the world -especially in a big capital like Stockolm . The place should be closed down immediately.Misleading and deceptive photos make people have a booking. How Swedish authorities ALLOW that ? Had booked a room for three- two months earlier and sent a deposit we...

Stayed here for 4 nights. Great place to stay although it's small. Receptionist was helpful straight away they gave me a map with places to go. I'd recommend to visit if you are on a budget. Showers are small as well but it's clean. Toilets clean as well.

The hostel was in a convenient and central location which was easy to find. When we arrived the wifi was working well however for the remainder off our stay it was down with no explanation why or apparent attempts to fix the problem. During our first nights stay one of our parties woke to find a stranger standing in the...

It's like a prison because you unlock three doors with two pins which is very confusing. Service? Between 9and 11 and 13 and 18:00. At the rest of the time there is no one who could help. Showers are stinky and a cellar hole.

The hotel is one of cheapest yes, but holy god did they forget how to isolate and ventilate? The amount of noise generated around my room and in the hotel in general was crazy! I measured the dB level, around 40! No air circulation, woke up with a headache. Generally the place is dirty as well. I will not recommend...

A last minute booking, paid approx £20 per night and would say it was good value. Dockside is in a great location, there a great view of the city/docks just a meter from outside the front door. There is also a co-op near by and it is in the Old Town which is beautiful and was my favourite place to...

The showers were filthy and didn't drain. The rooms had no air circulation and were therefor extremely stuffy and hot in addition to being tiny. I ended up leaving for a hotel after one night at this place. Absolutely awful.

If the hostel is clean and conveniently located to many attraction, then I'm sold. This hostel, fits that description. It's located in the old city, right next to a harbor. It's convenient to do the hop on hop off buses (which i totally recommend). The internet is stable and fast. One little issue may be the small showers that get...

The room was located in the basement with almost no ventilation and no possibilities to open the window. I felt confined. An extremely small kitchen with limited seating. Difficult to prepare any meals. Although it is a nice location I would recommend, especially families, to find somthing more "spacious".

The hostel is in a good location, close to attractions, cafes and drinking holes etc, it's about 1.5km from the main train/bus station, there are two train station close by the hostel. However, the rooms are tiny, there's no room to stand let alone space for your luggage. Personally I think it's a lot of money to pay for a...

Staying in Gamla Stan & Riddarholmen

Neighbourhood Profile
Gamla Stan & Riddarholmen
Gamla Stan is Stockholm’s historic old town and home to the Swedish Royal Palace. It’s the most central island of Stockholm and accompanied by the small island of Riddarholmen, mainly known for its famous Riddarholm Church. Gamla Stan tends to be a bit touristy at times but is definitely worth visiting: take a stroll past the well-preserved buildings and through the small (and also Sweden’s narrowest) alleys, which will make you feel like you’ve travelled back in time. This neighborhood offers a great combination of historical buildings and traditional Swedish restaurants.

“Yes, make sure you get a room up on the ground floor and not in the basement. But the window was nice but noisy from the street, so if that bothers you choose another room.”

“Write to the reception and ask for a room that is NOT in the basement. Rooms located on the first floor have better windows :)”
