My wife and I stayed here for one night upon our arrival from the United States. I was worried that we would be too early for check-in, but we were readily accommodated and given a room on the fourth floor. I was a little surprised that our 2 windows were really skylights, but the room was of larger size then...

The staff are very friendly and helpful. The room was small but superbly decorated and very comfortable. The location is amazing; Right in Gamla Stan, next to the palace and Stockholm cathedral (Storkyrkan) and so close to the square (Stortorget) with its marvellous Christmas market plus the Nobel museum, and so many restaurants. the walk into the modern part of...

Great value stay with brilliant, attentive reception staff - in particular Johanna, who cared for all our needs. Every effort was made to look after us and she was super friendly. Amazing sauna - a real bonus.

Great hotel for a short break. Quirky and reasonably priced. Lovely rooms, heated floor in the bathroom and jacuzzi bath which was a very warm welcome home after the very cold winter days. The rooms were well decorated and very clean. Each floor has facilities for making hot drinks. Breakfast was delicious and served between 7am and 10am. Location was...

Have just stayed for two nights at this hotel and would definitely recommend it. It's in a central location in the lovely old town - staff were friendly, rooms clean and breakfast was great - they even had a gluten free range of stuff! The hotel has some interesting objects on display which give it real character and make it...

Staff were very helpful and kind. The room was small, but the end to end configuration of the extra long twins was perfect for my daughter and I. Really liked the little cubbies in the headboard too. Temps were in the high 30s to high 40s and we were very comfortable with the radiator off and the windows open. Beds...

Our order specially was in the hotel with an elevator, because we have problems with knees. And we got a substitution to another apartment on the fourth floor without elevator and with not easy steps in the last day before departure. We are two not young people (62,63), and we could not go supplemental time out of the house, because...

This is a small wonderful hotel in the heart of Stockholm's Old Town (Gamla Stan). The hotel is one of three sister properties all with nautical themes and within close proximity. All were nice and would suffice, but I'm glad I chose the Lady Hamilton- it's smaller and has a better location with the Old Town. The hotel reeks of...

This hotel is well-located on a relatively quiet street in Gamla Stan within easy walking distance to many sites. I also walked to the main train station (20 minutes or so depending on your pace) and over to the Vasa Museum. My room was street-side on the top floor. The room was pretty spacious for a medium-priced hotel in Europe,...

Staying in Gamla Stan & Riddarholmen

Neighbourhood Profile
Gamla Stan & Riddarholmen
Gamla Stan is Stockholm’s historic old town and home to the Swedish Royal Palace. It’s the most central island of Stockholm and accompanied by the small island of Riddarholmen, mainly known for its famous Riddarholm Church. Gamla Stan tends to be a bit touristy at times but is definitely worth visiting: take a stroll past the well-preserved buildings and through the small (and also Sweden’s narrowest) alleys, which will make you feel like you’ve travelled back in time. This neighborhood offers a great combination of historical buildings and traditional Swedish restaurants.
