Myself and a friend stayed are just back from a stay in Gamla stan 15/1/18-18/1/18. This hotel was situated very close to Gamla stan metro station (tunnelbana) which is the first stop from Central Station. It's a short walk from here to the hotel so...More
We chose this hotel because of the central location and promises of a great breakfast. Neither disappointed. We walked easily to the Palace (just along the waterfront to the left), old town and across to the shopping centre. The only thing missing was being next...More
Upon arrival, my other half was stroppy that this hotel is supposed to be 4 star and up market, but that it looked old, sad, and that we got the fourth floor very back room (422) which was overlooking an often noisy alley and the...More

Excellent location. Helpful and professional staff. Fantastic breakfast buffet with almost everything I wanted and more, although for the price of the room I didn't expect Italian types of coffees which are now standard in any coffee house to be at extra cost. We booked...More

Gamla Stan is Stockholm’s historic old town and home to the Swedish Royal Palace. It’s the most central island of Stockholm and accompanied by the small island of Riddarholmen, mainly known for its famous Riddarholm Church. Gamla Stan tends to be a bit touristy at times but is definitely worth visiting: take a stroll past the well-preserved buildings and through the small (and also Sweden’s narrowest)
alleys, which will make you feel like you’ve travelled back in time. This neighborhood offers a great combination of historical buildings and traditional Swedish restaurants.

Original houses of the hotel was built early 17th century. The hotel originally concist of 7 Buildings. Two of them were private properties, one was a guest house and the rest used as pack houses as all sailing ships unloaded their cargo here. During 1920.s they tore down the front building of 4 stories and build up a new of 7 stories and 60 rooms. 1964 they included the pack houses behind the front and into the hotel and now it had 130 rooms. During the 90.s the dining room was moved to ground floor and now it became 144 rooms as we have today. Hotel was totally renovated 1996 and partially renovated 2007. Last year we completed 2 rooms to seek out the new design for a total renovation later this year.
