We have nothing but adoration for this gorgeous castle and the family that run it!! I found the property in the lonely planet and found their French website emailing them in English. Thank goodness for Virginie who can communicate beautifully in English. We booked for 2 nights minimum but extended our stay. The castle is lovingly restored and beautifully decorated....

We completed our week long tour of the Auvergne region with two nights at this amazing location. The photographs on the website do not really do it justice, there is a perfect authenticity to the building, even the parts that have been lovingly restored to accommodate today's travellers. We stayed in 'La Chambre Guerin' complete with hugely comfortable 4 poster...

Absolutely stunning accommodation! As you drive into the quaint village of Montaigut le Blanc - through twisty turny roads - you see the Chastel looming high on the hills above. Virginie or Anita will greet you and immediately make you feel welcome in their home. The castle is gorgeous and has been lovingly restored. Our room, like all rooms, was...

This beautifully restored castle on a hill above the Montaigut village provides stunning views over the rolling hills that make one feel like you are in a Cezanne painting. The rooms are beautifully decorated in a style sympathetic to the time of the Castle, but very modern in term of amneties and cleanliness. The family running this guest house are...

“There are no bad rooms in this establishment. One word of advice - refer to the website on how to locate or ask Virginie for directions. The signs directing to it say 'Chateau Chambre d'Hôtes' not 'Le Chatel Montaigu' so look for the former and you will find it. There is also an intercom to ask to be let in through the gates.”
