For the price, I wanted to like this place more than we did. The drive to the hotel was probably the most treacherous of all our legs throughout the entire 1600km drive, but this was a few days after a big snow storm hit the country. There is a low chance we would have made it a) near to this...

The villas are very good quality with amazing views of the fjord. The kids loved sitting in the hot tub and taking in the view. We had a lovely walk down to the local church and nearer to the fjord. We didn't eat in the hotel restaurant for 2 reasons. The cost seemed extortionately high (even by Icelandic standards) and...

We were here for a "destination wedding" in March. The views were incredible, the food was superb, the rooms were beautiful. The staff was attentive, friendly, warm and extremely helpful. Everyone did their best to make our stay a wonderful experience by recommending places to visit, how to get there and what to expect in terms of weather and road...

The location of this hotel is stunning with an incredible view of the Whale Fjord. We stayed 2 nights in a double room overlooking the fjord. The room and shower bathroom are on the small side but adequate for a couple of nights. If you are planning a longer stay I would go for one of the suites or villas....

We stayed in the Romantic Villa for 2 nights, this week, end of Feb 2017. The Villa finish was very high standard and comfortable. We chose this location for both it's remoteness and its accessibility to other parts of the island, being just over an hour from Reykjavik. The staff were very friendly, helpful and caring when it came to...

We did a fair bit of research before booking so we we had a good idea and high expectations of what our three night stay here would bring. We were not disappointed. We were allocated a villa a short distance down the slope from the main hotel building which was perfect for two families on holiday together with private bedrooms...

We don't understand some of the reviews for this hotel - we know some days are just off, and we've had those days too, so perhaps it was just poor timing for some and may depend if you see the glass half full or half empty, but our two nights at the hotel were really superb. We stayed in Villa...

I realize that "charming" is a musty and vague term, but it applies to the experience as a whole. I stayed for three nights in February because I wanted to do some hiking, and because I wanted to explore a new area of the country. This hotel presented the opportunity to do both. It is most definitely in a remote...

We did not see the northern lights so this review is purely of the hotel itself. The point of this hotel is to have a remote place to stay away from city lights to hopefully see the northern lights looking out over an amazing view in the comfort of your hotel room (or hotel hot tub). However, if you make...

Spend a wedding anniversary at Glymur hotel, renting the Hallgrimsstofa suite for one night. I asked from some special treat to be in the room and my requests were fully met by the friendly staff. In a wonderful winter weather, we witnessed the colorful sunset over the Hvalfjörður firth as an ever-changing painting from the hot tub. The hot tub...
