This is a beautiful place to stay and was a welcome respite after a busy day hiking around Skaftafell and visiting the gorgeous Jokulsarlon glacial lagoon. The rooms are spacious by Icelandic standards and are nicely done up in wood with attached bathrooms so it feels like staying in a quaint log cabin. There's a decent breakfast spread in the...

The service was great, fantastic European breakfast, easy check-in and check-out, the room was cozy but had everything we needed for a short stay (except a bottle opener or corkscrew). We awoke (at a reasonable time) to a sheep talking outside our cabin! We were only there for one night but really enjoyed our stay.

Really nice spot, food and people. You won't regret. Not modern but like it should be on Iceland. Reasonable prices for what you get. We had a great three course dinner here for about 40 euro's with a lot of home made food. Breakfast included with really nice pancakes and good coffee!

We spent one night at this guest house. The rooms were very nice and you could just park your vehicle in front of your room for easy loading of luggage. We had a unlucky night as the hot water was not functioning very well after I took a shower at 11pm. The water was never warm again when my wife...

Unfortunately, unlike some of the other recent reviewers we were disappointed with this accommodation and not sure why it is called “no. 1”, as it seems like the last place on earth. As a location, it is fine, just off the main south coast road and only 30 minutes or so drive from Jokulsarlon ( an Iceland “must – see”)....

The Guest House is in a very scenic location below mountains with hiking trails (which we didn't get a chance to check out but were advised there is a hike very nearby that goes up to view the glacier). T he cabin was very cute with plenty of space. It was rustic on the outside yet modern inside. We only...

Real sheep farm complete with sheep. The glacier is a 1 1/2 hour hike right off the back of the property; apparently anyone can hike from here. Dinner was a buffet - ham/lamb/cod, salad, homemade delicious bread, etc. Good soup and cake, all one price. Breakfast was the usual with a couple of add-ons like pate and herring. The room...

We stayed here so we could go to Jokulsarlon and Skaftafell the next day so it was a good location for that. The cabin was small but it was very nice, clean, and cozy. Breakfast was tasty as well. It was basically in the middle of nowhere (on a farm), but that just added to its charm!

Guesthouse Skalafell was a wonderful place to stay. We had cabin 1, which was quaint and only steps from the dining room. We had both breakfast and dinner included, which allowed us to enjoy true Icelandic cooking. I recommend this as there is nowhere else to eat within about 15 minutes.
