We have just returned from a four night stay in Reykjavik. We stayed at Eric the Red Guest House. We usually try to stay in small family run places and the quirkier the better for us rather than those soul-less boxes in large hotels. This lovely guest house did not disappoint us. It is perfectly situated in the city itslef...

Can't fault Eric the Red at all. The location was just perfect...10 minute walk from downtown, 2 minutes from the church. We stayed in one of the rooms with a shared bathroom. It was reasonably basic, but both it and the bathroom were clean and absolutely no less than what we expected. The breakfasts are great, both for the quality...

We stayed here for 3 nights and it was really happy. The location is perfect at the city center. Just 2 mins walks to the church and shopping street, clean room and very friendly people. Specially thanks to the host for driving us to the bus station. Thank you so much! I would like to stay there again when I...

We have just returned from a 4 night stay in the top floor apartment. It's just a 7 minute walk from Eric the Red guesthouse. It was perfect for our stay of 2 couples. We were aware that prices in Iceland are high so we took things like porridge, teabags, biscuits, soup etc with us and the apartment had everything...

Just returned from a 3 night visit at Eric the Red and I cannot recommend it enough. Upon arrival we were greeted with a huge smile, we were really quite early and our rooms weren't ready but we were free to leave our bags and we went off and had some early lunch/drinks. Our party consisted of 3 couples so...

Stayed here for 2 nights and was very happy! What a lovely guesthouse and rooms. Near the centre and the hosts were friendly and helpful. The hosts prepared a lovely breakfast for us when we had an early flight which I thought was very sweet of them. Great!!

Stylish, clean and well stocked apartments. It seemed every little detail had been thought of from teabags to tin foil, spare sheets to shower gel we really couldn't have asked for more. Seven of us rented two apartments one above the other and there seemed to be plenty of room for everyone, I'd say 5 or 6 max in one...

In case of confusion Eric the Red have 3 locations in Reyjavik, there is the Guesthouse at Eiríksgata 6 (which I believe is more of a B&B style accomodation), the apartments at Bergstadastræti 46 (3 seperate self catered apartments) and also, I think, one apartment at Eskihlíð 6. We stayed at the apartments on Bergstadastræti in the top floor/loft apartment....

Having visited the actual guesthouse last year, my friends and I had no hesitation booking with Edda and Runar again but this time in their apartments. There were 5 of us and we booked for ground floor apartment for a very reasonable price. I had a lot of contact with Edda prior to arriving in Iceland and she upgraded us...

I've stayed in Reykjavik half a dozen times now and opted this time to stay in a guesthouse instead of a large hotel . I was not disappointed in the slightest !! The condition of the guesthouse is impeccable Clean, welcoming, well furnished, plenty of facilities Breakfast is served in the most beautiful dining room and all part of the...
