I can't bring myself to give this guest house 5 stars / dots. It's in a great location, right downtown in the busy area, convenient to many attractions, restaurants, and shops. It's 1/4 the cost of the Hotel Borg which is 50 feet away, on the square. It's very clean and has just about everything you need: well equipped kitchen,...

My sister and I had a wonderful stay at 1912 on a 5-day trip to Iceland last year. This guest house is tucked away on a tiny street right off a main road in Reykjavik. We stayed in room 302, on the top floor, a nice spacious room with two comfortable beds and balcony access. Bathrooms are shared, but they...

Reserving this guesthouse was very easy. Communication with the owner was frequent and pleasant. He provided us with the passcode before we got there which made arriving at 1am local time more enjoyable for all of us. I really liked the big red door- pretty and easy to find :) When we finally did Richard, he was very accommodating. Our...

Great central location within walking distance to Reykjavik's sights and activities. We were only there for two nights in the off-season, and we were the only ones in the place so the shared bathrooms were no problem. Good heaters in the rooms, as it was already getting chilly in October. We had some trouble with the WiFi, but the owner...

Handy to shopping, restaurants, things to see, bus tour terminal, friendly, comfortable. It was a treat being able to make my own coffee and enjoy it while sitting at the kitchen table with the late night sun streaming in the window. I would definitely stay here again!

The 1912 Guest House is located in an excellent part of downtown, walkable to almost all attractions and convenient to the tour office for day trips away from the city. The owner is friendly and the rooms are very clean. Bathrooms are shared, but most guests are courteous and keep the showers, etc clean for the next person. We would...

The staff was very helpful and stayed up until 2am to let me in to my room. He contacted me to ensure my room would be available after some Visa card trouble. A very interesting man and very helpful in pointing out local attractions.

The 1912 is in a fantastic and fairly quiet location -- within a block of the center of downtown Reykjavik. The rooms and shared bathrooms are kept very clean and its clientele are polite and quiet. No fault of the 1912 Guest House, but we decided that, as "late middle-agers", we want a little more luxury in the place where...

The 1912 Guest House offers an amazing location just around the corner from the Icelandic Parliament. It is readily walkable to all sorts of sights in Rejkjavik -- and is a value for the price. It can be a little hard to sleep, given that the curtains are relatively sheer and it never gets really dark in the summer, but...
