The self-service style of the hotel was convenient for us as we arrived quite late, and it didn't matter. It basically means you get a code to get in to a common room, where an envelope is left with your name on it and the key to your room inside. Which is a bit of an honesty system as someone... More

Initial place were we picked the keys up going through major building works which was not advertised. Told to come back at 3 for the key and a map on how to get to new apartments. New apartment very nice. Didn't see staff for 4 days and had to make do with same towels.. Luckily we had our own. Apartment... More

It is a "self service" hotel, so there's no desk attendant, which we were aware of, and it wasn't much of a problem at all. Check in went smoothly. Bathroom had no means of ventilation, so after we used the shower once, the room was humid for the rest of our stay. Over time this has led to black mold... More

We booked our Iceland accommodation on line and after reading the wide range of reviews on several sites, we decided to stay with Stay anyway. We don't regret that decision too much yet there were some very unpleasant aspects to it that, had we known, may have influenced our decision. We booked a double room as we have always done.... Grettisgata is a street that runs through the centre of old Reykavik, the heart of this colourful city. It was perfectly located for getting around the city on foot and runs adjacent to the main shopping street, Laugavegur. The apartment itself was basic but clean and nicely decorated, providing us with a good bolt-hold to return to for relaxing at... More

The best thing about Stay Apartments Grettisgata is its location. It's just prefect. Right next to all the bars, shops and restaurants. The apartment itself is nice enough. There's plenty of room for 3 people. The sofa can be turned into a double bed that's surprisingly comfortable. There's a small stove, a fridge, a coffee maker, a microwave oven and... More

I stayed here with 2 friends for the first week of August this year. A very busy week in Reykjavik, the height of the tourist season. Location exceeded my expectations, very central and only a brief walk to Downtown Reykjavik where there are a number of restaurants and bars. The apartment itself was what we needed, for what turned out... More

Stay apartments has to be the worst accommodation we've ever been in, even when we used to go on budget holidays we had better, it reminds me of a council estate you see in movies. We booked through Barrhead Travel who done nothing to help us move without charging us an extra £2000 for the remaining 7 days of our... More

Very good apartment, had everything we needed, good kitchen, lounge/diner, nicely decorated in a modern style. Very spacious for two people. Easy to access reception and you can store your luggage if you arrive before your room is available. It is in a great location just round the corner from Laugavegur, the main road where so many shops, cafes, bars... More

“!st floor is below grade so be advised... you will be watching people's feet on the side walk. Ask for 2nd floor or above. Heating is rumoured to be better on lower floors because it's all one system. If somebody downstairs cranks the heat up, the level above gets nothing.”
