This was our first trip to Iceland & the hotel was booked through a tour operator so it wouldn't have been our first choice due to its location. However the staff were really friendly especially the Italian receptionist who suggested a lovely restaurant for us...More
Nice hotel a bit out of the town but all the trips pick up from the hotels and bring you back so it doesn't matter that much. It is just a bit of a walk to find something to eat in the evening especially when...More
This is a practical hotel, reasonable price, with comfortable clean rooms.
There is a main building and an annex next door. We stayed in the annex and it was fine. There isn't a lift but there are only two floors, if access is a problem...More

If your booking does not include breakfast (room-only booking) then you can still have breakfast of course, but you will need to pay for that on the spot.
It costs 2000 ISK per person per day.

Hi, breakfast was the usual cereals, tea, coffee, toast. Plus loads of fresh fruit (all local), some lovely freshly cooked waffles (got hooked with the Maple syrup..YUM) , cheese, hams, crackers. All the typical things you get in a buffet style European breakfast - minus croissants! The cost is 2,000 Krona per person, per day (£14). We had room 402, first floor in the 'other' building away from the reception. It was a lovely big, airy clean room, but we didn't have a hob or microwave.
We did have a fridge (two actually ??!) kettle with tea and coffee making facilities. Towels were fresh every day, and the shower was to die for..Geo thermal hot water (okay, it has a smell - just ignore it) was powerful and so good.
Out of reception, turn right and three shops down was 'Ginger', a healthy, 'Naked Burger' cafe. Food was terrific and very, very tastey. £39 for two meals including drinks - Remember - NOTHING is cheap in Iceland, and you will realise this place isn't too bad. Do you like Indian food?
Bombay Bazaar, is a fantastic restaurant in the road that runs parallel to the hotel 'behind' you. We ate there twice. Couldn't fault it.
The organised trips (we booked with Gray Line) pick you up outside, and drop you back to the hotel. It was a faultless service.
About 5 mins walk (turn left out of the hotel) takes you to the bus stop, and you can go into the city centre and almost anywhere else too.
Big tip. Down load the STRAETO.IS app on your phone. You buy your bus tickets before you get on the bus, and all the times & routes are on there with live times. So clever.
If you want food on your room (or to take on your Golden Circle trip etc, Hagkaup is a 24/7 super market, about 10 minutes walk from the hotel. Turn left, left at the end of the road (opp the petrol station) and it is straight down - after crossing the main road - just passed the Suzuki dealers - whose signs and lights you will see first.
Hope this is helpful.
