When I booked my room with single twin sized bed it was three days before I had arrived and I wasn't expecting company, funny how life doesn't seem to work out that way. On my way there from Skaftafell I ended up picking up a fellow traveler (aka hitchhiker) that needed some help. Long story short when I arrived to...

The Thor Guesthouse was the first stop on our tour of Iceland. We only stayed for one night, and found the location to be great. Very walkable to many different locations in the heart of Reykjavik, and there's a parking garage about a block away. Our room was comfortable and clean. The bathrooms were nice, and everything felt very private....

First of all, everything is expensive in Iceland. For me this was a slightly cheaper option than a private room in a hostel...which is saying something. It's a good location downtown, close to the "church". Room was clean, spacious, overall nice-pillows were very flat. Bathrooms were great-hot water was, well I doubt any accommodation has a hot water problem in...

We stayed at the guesthouse for 5 days and it was absolutely lovely. The facilities were very nice as well. Clean bathrooms and well-equipped kitchen (pans and pots and oil and sauces and herbs...)! It is just like a home! The owners provided information about the supermarkets and sights nearby and they certainly gave good advice on the lobster soup!...

Thor Guesthouse is in kind of a random location: on the 4th floor of a random building, but it's right in the city center. In our area (rooms 3-8, I think) we had 3 bathrooms and 2 of them had showers. I never had to wait to use a shower/bathroom. They had hairdryers in there. One of the showers had...

The owners are fabulous. The rooms are clean, but extremely spartan. I went there on someone's recommendation without looking at it on the internet and was surprised to find the common bathrooms that definitely need redoing. Maybe it's common to have a bed with just a bottom sheet and a comforter with no top sheet in Iceland, but too rough...

The owners really care, and bent over backwards to be helpful, but it's just not much. Location is very good, but let's face it, going down the hall for a shower or toilet is just not a vacation. Yes they have a tiny elevator, but you still have to walk and drag luggage a full flight of stairs. Not too...

From the Hallgrímskirkja church the Skolavordustigur runs down to join the laugavegur which is the main pedestrianised drag down into the main centre of town. The Thor Guesthouse is at the junction of Odinsgata and Skolavordustigur next to a nice bookstore which also sells coffee. So, it's a pretty central location. The guesthouse is the 4th floor of a building....

I spent only one night in the guesthouse. But will definitively consider this guesthouse again next time I come to Reykjavik. Central location, good spacey room (I had room no 6, it's a double room but I got it as a single room), good bed, good curtains (to make the room dark during the light summer nights), good showers, really...
