Very easy to locate in Vik Perfect to break down the long South Iceland drive Lovely couple at reception who greeted us and gave us loads on info on what to do nearby, where to have dinner etc Rooms are simple but functional. 2/5m walking distance to Vikurfara black sand beach Breakfast was quite good, various bread options, fruit, yogurt,...

We stayed in the hostel part twice, on the way east and then when we headed back west again. The kitchen and common rooms are large, although we did end up queuing for showers in the evenings. The building itself is very interesting and is about a century old!

If you absolutely need to stop in Vik, Puffin hotel is a perfect solution: good service, clean and tidy rooms and common areas, close car park, and just in the middle of the town. The hotel is expensive, from a price/value point of view, but nothing in Vik is cheap: the town is probably the most expensive place I've visited...

Booked there end of April for 3 persons room for $200, the breakfast is minimal (no scramble egg nor sausage, just cereal, hard boiled egg, and some cheese and salami) and the hotel is rather old, no lobby, and it is our most expensive stay in Iceland, if I have a choice, I would look for somewhere else (like Kirkjubaejarklaustur,...

It would appear the puffin family (Lundi) has Vik sewn up- there is a hotel, hostel and apartments. To be clear, this is a review of the hotel. We got two double rooms. They were clean and bright, if a bit cozy. One room had no place to put a suitcase down (although there was room for furniture) but other...

My two friends and I stayed in a triple room in this hostel in mid-April. The room itself was fine - equipped with a bunk bed and a chair. The kitchen is underneath the stairs, it has no windows and is difficult to air out. There were only two showers and two toilets in the building we were staying in...

Stayed here for one night on our road trip across Iceland. It's a good midway stopping point, but there are pretty limited options where to stay. The puffin hotel was everything we needed for a night, the staff were lovely and checkin was very easy. The room was pretty big, especially compared to our previous hotel in Reykjavik. There was...

Stated in a Puffin cottage in Vik. Not good. Dirty. Light bulbs missing. Fridge broken. Badly equipped. Unlovely and unloved. And expensive, compared to some other great places to rent there. The worst place we stayed in Iceland.

Vik is a very small town but you should consider making a stop here as a 10min drive will bring to locations with minimal light pollution at night (ie. higher chances of capturing the northern lights). Puffin hostel is quite run-down; poor insulation, weak showers and narrow stairs. However, there are very limited accommodation options in Vik, and if you...

This hotel was in a great location but felt more like a hostel than a hotel. It is walkable to the beach and a supermarket. Our bed wasn't very comfortable and even though we asked for the heat to be turned down and we opened our window, our room was miserably hot. Also, the breakfast was lacking compared to other...
