One night staycation with friends who had visited previously (they stayed for 2). Our room was ready on arrival and was clean and spacious with balcony and overlooking the golf course. Reception staff were friendly and helpful particularly when our door wouldn't unlock, they quickly issued new key cards and said they would get someone if they didn't work. The room was well equipped (no robe or slippers), coffee maker with two complimentary pods (purchase more at reception), tea and coffee. The mini bar was a bit of surprise with full bottles of wine for $12 and bottles of beer for $5 - probably one of the cheapest we've seen. We didn't realise until our friend told us that the hotel was being used as a quarantine hotel - we didn't have guests on either side but our friends did, although it seems that these were FIFO workers out of WA and not overseas travellers. The grounds peaceful and relaxing and there are kangaroos wandering around (or sleeping under the vines). We didn't eat at the restaurant so am unable to comment, breakfast was reasonable and plentiful and again the staff were friendly and helpful. A good base to explore the swan valley.

The surrounds are quite beautiful and there is an abundance of wildlife around. The rooms are comfortable and clean. However, a lack of toiletries was very disappointing. All in one shampoo and conditioner in a fixed dispenser in the shower and a cake of soap. Our room door handle was broken but no attempts to fix it just instructions on how to manage it. At A$320 per night I expected better.
You only get 1 coffee pod per person in the room and then you have to purchase more. Ours were wasted as the coffee machine leaked water everywhere. Some restaurants were fully booked despite there being many empty tables every time we walked past. Other restaurants ran out of certain foods. The external areas could do with a tidy up. Lots of plastic chairs stacked everywhere and rubbish all around them.

I stayed at the Vines for a wedding this weekend. From check in to check out, the staff were really on their game, remembering small details about the booking, which added to the personal feel of the venue. I had a Resort King room with 2 double beds on the ground floor, spacious, well presented, and well stocked- though I didn’t avail myself of the mini bar. However, free in house movies and wifi certainly made the quieter times of the weekend easier to manage

We had Breakfast at Muscat’s at a cost per adult of $32 and children cheaper. The food was plentiful and at an appropriate temperature. I had to put the toast through twice but for someone else once would probably suffice

We didn’t use the tennis courts, pool or mini golf - it is just making it easier to plan a return trip

We arrived at our room and it was noted that there were a lot of bugs in it. I do not use hotel pillows so moved the pillows of my bed – on one of the pillows there was a spider’s web with a spider in it.

In fact, there was a spider’s web from my girlfriend’s bedside cabinet to the floor and there were spider webs on the ceiling! We had to get rid of 5 assorted bugs and spiders! That night.

The bedding had a marks on it too.

That night at dinner – the staff were lovely and the meal delicious but some didn’t seem to know what they were doing. We asked what the fish of the day was and they had to ask the chef. I asked for a double espresso coffee – and had to follow this up twice. It came on a side plate – no spoon, no sugar with milk.

My girlfriend had to use the bathroom and couldn’t believe the state of the toilet seat that was in the toilet – see pic attached. The sinks weren’t clean and hers had hair in.

The next day I went to reception to ask for bug spray and they organised for cleaners to go in, front desk staff didn’t seem surprised even when I asked them to remove the pillow with the spider’s web! The cleaners attended the room and one of them advised it was normal for this time of year! They did not remove the pillow and there were still webs in the room. They did spray the room and we had quite a few dead bugs!

We decided to order room service for dinner. We ordered both share plates –although presentation wasn’t great we put this down to COVID and them serving the food in polystyrene boxes. When we opened the cheese share container we discovered a hair in the food – we phoned up and staff kindly gave us another share plate, this one had less food in it than the first box.

The room internal windows had mould on them. Out the back of our room there was an old fork, weeds and the doorway had a lot of dirt. Outside our room (front entrance) was a used flannel that stayed there for the time we were booked in.

They were walking (with a guard) people in isolation (COVID) past our room.

Multiple emails to the GM asking for feedback and if he gave the cleaners enough time to clean - NO REPLY.

We booked 2 nights with friends to attend a wedding. The room we stayed in was recently refurbished, large and with great views over the pool and the golf course. The facilities were great as we had a few drinks and a light meal with friends prior to the wedding. The breakfast was $28 each if you booked at reception, and was great value. When we return to Perth we will definitely stay here again. It was a lovely relaxed setting with great facilities.

We stayed at The Vines Novotel on Saturday 2-3rd of April. The cost of the room on Saturday was $420 and Sunday $200 breakfast not included. Checked in on Saturday at 1.30 as we were working in the area the room was towards the back of the resort near a road, overlooking the tired tennis courts and maintenance sheds (really at that price)getting into the room was a mission as the swipe cards didn’t function properly, the room was clean and functional but the balcony door didn’t lock properly and the balcony had peeling woodwork and was dirty. Bottled water is $4 per 600ml for goodness sake at these prices (we went to Woolworth the next day and bought 1.5ltr bottles for 80c and some food for the evening as we had dined here once before and were not impressed.
And what bright spark thought to tile the walkways outside the rooms the noise the pull along cases makes let’s everyone know, so no quiet lie in on the Sunday. Sadly won’t be returning especially after being told no where gives free bottled water when I mentioned it.

Having stayed here recently for a wedding I have to say that my stay was just average at best. Unfortunately reception seems disorganised and unable to review account details to an acceptable standard. As a accor club member I was able to use my rewards points to partly pay for my room online. Upon checkout the reception staff advised me that I had not properly paid for my room and requested the balance be paid before I depart. I explained the points I had used had covered the rest and presented an invoice on my phone which the reception staff ignored. I was then told "okay, no problem. That's all good then". About 10 minutes after leaving the hotel I was phoned and a message was left on my voice mail along the lines of "Hi this is __ from the vines resort, I have checked your account and you only have 1000* points left which is only $34, we can't just waive the balance of 4000* points so you need to come back and finalise the account".. 2 minutes later I had another message "Hi, just disregard the previous message, I sorted it out".
There was no apology? Nothing at all. I've stayed at novotel establishments all around the world and every single one has been more organised than this establishment.
Hopefully they can learn from this and improve, but I was very unimpressed.
I'm unlikely to return and will advise friends and colleagues the same.

The young girl at check-in was lovely, when we went to our room I noticed that the usual welcome gift was not there. Since I was a gold member I was greeted with a bottle of wine when I arrived in the room, I am now a Diamond member and here was nothing. When I went back to reception I inquired about the usual gift the duty manager told me that they don't do that. I told her that the last 2 stays at the exact same hotel they did and she made me feel as though I was lying to her. She reluctantly gave me a bottle of wine (not the same charm as finding it in the room). While we were at reception we also asked for house keeping to come through and vacuum as there were a couple of dead insects on the floor of the room. Being Valentines day I had hoped to use my points to cover dinner at the restaurant but I was told that I could not use them as they had a function which I would have to pay in advance for by credit card. That was very disappointing.
The young lady who assisted with check out was lovely despite the long wait due to 2 computers not being able to process the charge to my points.

We stayed in a three bedroom apartment on the 10th tee for 5 nights. It was well equipped with everything you need for 6 people, the beds are comfortable, they provide plenty of towels and linen. The apartments are in its own gated area, nice and quiet with a pool to use. Really would of loved to have had a bbq. The fridge in our apartment seemed to freeze our food even when we adjusted the temperature apart from that everything was in good working order. The apartments were clean but we felt the outside could do with a bit of a tidy/clean up with the clothes line area having cobwebs and old broken pegs around. Overall our family enjoyed staying in the accommodation.

However the resort itself really could be better. The bathrooms around the pool need better lighting and a good clean, the members pool area would look a lot nicer if the glass was cleaned and one morning we were at the pool early and plastic cups and rubbish were still around from the day before. The poolside “bar” was closed every time we were there, I think the reason given was covid related but we suspect it was more to do with lack of staff. The sun lounges around the pool could do with an upgrade. The kids got bored of the small playground quickly and it needs a sun shade over it.

We ate once at the cafe/bar and the food is good but unfortunately service is very slow with meals being sent out at different times so we couldn’t all eat together. It feels like they are very short on staff this really does show in the customer service that you receive.

We tried to take the kids to play mini golf at 7.30pm one evening and were told they were closing so couldn’t play even though it is advertised to be open til 9pm.

The ladies at the hotel reception are very helpful and give you a lovely welcome and you do get that holiday resort vibe from them but that service is very much lacking in the cafe/bar area.

I recommend the vines for a family holiday in the swan valley as long as you don’t have high resort style holiday expectations because it has a more of a good holiday/caravan park type feel to it.

The room was not overly expensive so I can get over the slightly damp smell, the shower that had scum around the edges and the fact that the whole place is very dated. The room was large and the bed comfortable so you would think we could get a good night’s sleep. Not a chance. There is no noise insulation between the rooms so every time someone flushed a toilet it was like it was in our room. Worse was when the room above turned on the fan in the bathroom and it sounded like a chain saw in our bedroom. This happened several times, both day and night, over the course of the weekend, even after midnight once. 1st night a wedding party came in at 12.30am and continued partying in our shared courtyard (right outside our door). I was able to get payback by getting up at 7am the next morning and flushing the toilet twice. This woke everyone in the surrounding rooms up - sweet revenge. I complained on checkout and the receptionist looked at me blankly and said “we’ve never had a complaint from that room before”. OMG!!! I hardly think that can be true. If you’re staying at this “hotel” take ear plugs.

If they were under quarantine they would not be roaming around. Best you check with the hotel management on their Covid 19 procedures and if they have quarantine guests?

Hope I’m not too late .. my apologies Room I had was large with king bed and balcony All rooms I could see had balconies but you’ll need to ask especially for one that looks out to the Roos. If you’ve got small children you may get away with two fold outs but to be honest I think you’ll need to ask for a larger room Hope it helps Go to the Feral Pig brewery ,,,, food and beer is good Cheers Robbee
