Am not sure whether another review from me was also published so just in case it wasn't, please visit this restaurant to experience excellent French cooking. You could walk/drive past this building and not notice it (as we first did) and it was only because I was walking back from the river that I stopped, read the menu and subsequently... More

Don't be put off by the ordinary appearance of Le Lion d'Or, on the roadside in a tiny village by the Beuvron river. The food and service in the restaurant, which has three connecting room, was superb. Every course was a taste revelation and exquisitely presented. We did not expect that midweek there would be much custom, but we were... More

Cande is a small village about 5 miles outside Blois. For us it was a mid way stop on the way back from the Dordogne. Its a pleasant spot by a river with an old stone bridge. The Lion d'Or is a small old coaching inn with a more moden annex behind. We were delayed & arrived late (8pm) but... More

One of the best restaurants that I have visited in France. Fantastic service and a lovely location. The rooms are not modern but very clean and comfortable - I would go back there tomorrow if I could. I will recomend it to my friends this a really special place. The dinner that we had there was wonderful and the wine... More

We stayed a night at Le Lion D'or two years ago (before Tripadvisor listed it) and stayed again this August. The welcome here is warm and friendly and the dining room is charming but it is the expertise of the chef that makes the experience. All I can say is that the food here is SUPERB, better than anything we... More

We had a lovely and delicious dinner at the Lion d'Or. When we arrived we were a bit deceived by the atmosphere quite 80s of the entrance and the dining room, but the "terrasse" is cute and warm. Further more the service is very high level and the "chef de cuisine" really excels with his creative, fresh and high quality... More

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Lion d'Or. The room was spacious, clean and quiet. The restaurant was excellent with a good choice of menu and well trained staff. We enjoyed an excellent evening meal and lunch here. Can recommend highly.
