Grand Hôtel Wiesler, in the heart of Graz, has abandoned splendour and star ratings – but not the good old days. At the ‘Salon Marie’ restaurant & bar, the day begins with breakfast beneath street art covering an entire wall and is finished off with international dishes and soul vinyl music. Only a few minutes’ walk from Schloßberg and Kunsthaus, the Wiesler is the perfect base for a city tour. And those who still have to work will find free WiFi throughout the hotel. ‘Re-interpreted luxury’ feels comfortingly light at Grand Hôtel Wiesler – for all those who expect more than just a good bed and central location.

Hotel's Favourite
Fun hip atmosphere in a central location in town. Room was quite and super clean with a great view of the river and the city. Right next to the Friendly Alien and multiple tram lines for easy transportation around the city. A must stay place if in Graz!

The Grand Hotel Wiesler is a refreshing shabby chic styled hotel right in the centre of Graz.
My trip was due to work and was great to see the hotel had put in precautions for the COVID Pandemic. There were masks available at reception, hand sanitizers dotted around and informative posters up.
I stayed on floor 4 and was pleasantly surprised by the space of the room and its amenities.
The bed was extremely comfortable which felt like a memory foam mattress topper and for the 21 nights I stayed I slept perfectly every single night. My only slight quibble was the bed was made of two beds together so I often found myself fallen down the middle of the beds in the morning which was fun ha-ha!
The standard of the decor in the rooms was fabulous and I found the binoculars provided was great for people watching out of my large bay windows. The little touches made the room from the candle’s to the homemade fudge there were lots of goodies everywhere.
There was no kettle in the room but when I asked at reception one was brought up quickly and I was allowed to keep it for the entirety of my stay which was nice. I would say that iron would have been nice in the room too but I'm sure one would have been provided for me at reception.
The Wi-Fi was free which was good but the speed was quite poor. It struggled to stream even the lowest quality of videos, but that's possible because there was a large number of us staying for work so the hotel was full.
On the whole, though I enjoyed my stay here and Francis the waiter was great and always made us feel welcome at dinner service. The head waiter (Gary? In English) was very friendly but always seemed extremely stressed and flustered and even asking for a drink seemed like it was a massive effort for him. Food standard was pretty good and there was a good range of selections from a variety of continents in the world. I think the chef changed a few times as one of the mornings one of the ‘omelettes’ was two fried eggs with a slice of cheese on (see attached photo) – but other mornings they were perfect!
The cleanliness of the hotel was great too, every day my room was cleaned, and bed made. Fresh towels too.
The laundry service is great too, I would drop my clothes off to the reception in the morning and when I got back to the hotel in the evening it would be waiting for me freshly laundered on my bed, a great service.
I can't wait to make this my preferred hotel of choice in Graz and stay here again soon. This hotel is a MUST if you are planning to come to Graz

There is a lot to like about this place! I’ll list the pros and cons:
Pros:
Location - you’re right on the river with gorgeous views of the city. You’re also a short walk from almost anything you’d like to see.
Room: The room was large and very nice. It had sort of a rustic feel.
Staff: Everyone was extremely kind!
Cons:
There’s really only the one - noise. For the most part, my room was extremely quiet, which is impressive given how centrally located this place is. However, I had a room facing the side of the hotel. Every morning around 4-5am, the beer for the hotel restaurant/bar is delivered, so there is a lot of loud banging for an extended period of time. My last night was a Friday night, and I was kept up by rowdy revelers most of the night. I realize this might be the price to pay for being in such a great location, but I was a bit sleep deprived.
Other notes: The shower door in my room was completely clear, which was no problem for me, but I did keep thinking how awkward it would be to travel with a friend who isn’t on naked terms with you.
I had a wonderful time in Graz in large part because of this hotel!

The hotel is clean and has a very open design.
The rooms correspond to the pictures on the website and on various booking platforms - you have to like the open design (sink in the room, open shower opposite the bed...) There are no slippers or bathrobes in the room. However, I assume that both are provided on request. What I found very incomprehensible was that a column was placed directly in front of the sink, so that unrestricted access to the sink is basically not possible.
We were in the hotel from Saturday to Sunday, on the website and in the hotel you can read that breakfast on Sundays is from 6:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. with the note that it would be served until 11:30 a.m.
We arrived at the buffet at 10:40 a.m. and were very rudely informed that breakfast would only be available for another 20 minutes and that the buffet was already being dismantled. We were then very rudely seated in a rather modest place and were not allowed to sit in the restaurant where the buffet is set up. When you got your food you were given unfriendly looks and you felt like you were disturbing them. It later turned out that the same day was Sunday brunch, which was also open to external guests. That may be all well and good, but the situation from breakfast to brunch could be handled more gracefully and the hotel guests could not be made to feel like they were disturbing them...
The dinner in the restaurant was unique and great!
The service was well organized and very courteous. Special requests were implemented ad hoc and to the fullest satisfaction.
In summary: great hotel for a city trip

In Graz for a customer meeting and stayed in Grand Hotel Wiesler Graz for 3 nights (Jan 18 to Jan 21). Truly enjoyed this stay, Five Star for sure.
The facility was built in 1909 (guessed from its WiFi password), yet the interior is very modern. The staff was very friendly and responsive, and the breakfast was the best we ever had in Europe. The hotel is in a premium location, with Tram #1, 4,6,7 connecting to the train station,

The hotel location is excellent, next to the Kunsthaus, on the river bank opposite the Franziskanerkirche. The tram stop is just around the corner, which is quite convenient to get to the train station.
The room was spacious, the bed comfortable, but there were no curtains in the window. Instead, they have a shutter on each window pane, which lets a lot of light into the room, which in Summer, with the sun rising before 6 am, is very bothersome. The supposedly trendy renovation is not functional in some cases. Another problem is the noise provoked by running water when someone in another room flushes the toilet or takes a bath.
The breakfast is very varied, with options for all tastes. The service is well organized, and the staff is very attentive.

The room was spotless and we loved that for a family of four they gave us a suite with a separate bedroom. The buffet breakfast (6:30 - 11:00am) was very ample, with a variety of savory and sweet options. The proximity to the city center was ideal!

Perfect location right on the river with views of the old town from the hotel window. Hotel has lots of beautiful design features with chandeliers, wallpaper and hanging plants. Very beautiful surroundings while you eat breakfast. Breakfast buffet has a great selection that’s covid safe with lots of food items in individual bowls per guest. Room is very spacious and overall a lovely stay in a beautiful hotel.

The best thing first: the breakfast is almost perfect! From fried vegetables to ham/cheese salad, cakes, jams, delicious Striezel, warm croissants and even fruit that you can dip in warm chocolate. (Almost) everything your heart desires! If I could wish for something else, it would be freshly made egg dishes like omelettes or eggs Benedict. But the ready-made egg dish at the buffet is also OK.
The dinner in the "Salon Marie" is also very good! We ate here twice and (almost) everything tasted very, very good. The service was particularly attentive and the food came very quickly. The price/performance ratio is very OK.
The location is very good, right on the Mur, you can hear the rushing water if you leave the window open. If you walk over the Mur (bridge right by the hotel), you are right in the center.
The downside: there was no cupboard in the room! Unbelievable but true! We only stayed 3 nights, so you can live out of a suitcase, but staying longer would have been really difficult! And the shower in the middle of the room is also suboptimal. Even if you try hard, the wooden floor is wet afterwards - which I can't understand from the hotel's point of view... I would recommend mentioning when booking that you want a room with a wardrobe. The rooms are designed very differently.
The reception is staffed by very young, rather inexperienced staff who unfortunately couldn't give competent advice on restaurant recommendations, for example.

Cold staff in an amazing location
Booked in had to jump through the hoops put in place for current problems
That shouldn't in my opinion change how the staff treat you.
Not friendly and warm as one would hope for given the price range of the hotel.
Our bed was so so hard we asked if it was possible to move rooms. NO was there simple response. No discussion.
Since the company were paying for the room I didn't put up the normal argument I would had I been forking out for it myself.
The breakfast was really great plenty of teas on offer. Fresh coffee, brought to you at your table. The staff here were really loverly helpful. as was one member of the bar staff.
I wouldn't have put up with the receptionist response had I been paying !!!

Dear John, I am shocked by reading your review. I do apologize for this misbehavior which wont be tolerated and is definitely not our standard. It absolutely shouldn't be a problem to change a room, if rooms avaiable, as we always inform our guests that our front desk team is gladly here for you 24 hours a day. Once again I want to apologize and cant imagine what happened there while your stay, but I can guarantee and promise you a different experience if you ever visit us again. Thank you for sharing your memories of your stay and we wish you a wonderful start into the new year. kind regards, Mario Stanek Front Office Manager

No. The accessability to response to any message via Agoda is terrible. Please contact the hotel directly.
they do allow late checkout for an extra fee. best to contact them directly about early checkin. Might be possible if you warn them well in advance- and probably pay.
Not its own, but a garage in the back alley. You have to pay extra and your space is not guaranteed as it is a public garage.
Hello dear Aatavares,
our guests can use the public garage behind our building for a cheaper price, that means 15€ for every 24 hours. On weekends, Saturday from 1 pm until Monday 9 am would it be also possible to use the parking areas arround, because the city wont charge anything during that time (you can easily find those parking zones with blue lines arround them on the ground).
I Hope I could help,
Greetings from Graz, Mario Stanek (Front Office Manager Assistant)
