I'd booked this family-owned hotel as one to stay at on a motorcycle trip with a friend en route to Turkey.

Pleasantly located in a suburb of Graz (you'll need transport to get here, for sure!), the rooms are clean and well-furnished in Austrian style. The bathroom was small but well appointed.

We found the staff to be quite friendly and attentive. The highlight of a stay here is the regional cooking, usual portions and attractively presented. Breakfast was the usual continental affair.

The staff's English isn't great, but my smattering of German saw us through.

So, a thumbs up from me, just wish they'd eat a little later as I felt a bit rushed to get in for dinner - the restaurant was about to close when we arrived.

The Stoffbauer is a clean, pleasant hotel in a peaceful and beautiful suburb of Graz. The rooms are clean an well furnished with a subtle cottage style. The bathroom is small, but fitted with one of the most powerful showers I've yet used, i.e. a really good shower experience....

The personnel were friendly and helpful. Breakfast was typically continental with an adequate selection of cheeses and cold meats.

I stayed three nights at Stoffbauer Gasthaus last week and I had a comfortable stay - like staying at someone else's home. The guesthouse is family-owned and has that homey feel upon entering. Rooms are not numbered and instead named after the sons and daughters/grandchildren of the owners. I stayed in Anna right beside Stefan and Jurgen. Rooms are very clean and well appointed. Since the property is located in the outskirts of Graz, it is not so accessible by public transport especially in the weekends but it is easy to call a cab and cabs are not to expensive (10 euros to the city). Adequate continental breakfast is served from 7 am to 10 am. For English speakers, they have staff who can accommodate questions. Those who work in the guesthouse are students in Graz working part time and they are all quite nice and pleasant. Stoffbauer is also a restaurant serving tradional Styrian food which are quite good. I had goulash with the bread dumpling (semmelknoedel) which was yummy, also the biggest platter of cheese I have ever seen with bread for dinner. While there are other options in the city for accommodation, I think Stoffbauer is charming enough to consider and look, especially if you have a car or in a group.

Room Tip: Second floor rooms facing the back would be a good idea. Anna is nice as well. Jurgen is too small.

We stayed here for the 2016 Austrian GP and found the place clean, welcoming and with a nice homely feel as it is family run. The restaurant attached serves up some good food and drink & the staff are very helpful. It is a bit off from Graz main on a hill, so you would need a car/taxi to get into town

The Stoffbauer is located some 5 kilometres away from the city centre but we walked it every day (it's mostly down hill) due to the beautiful surroundings that are so typical of Graz.

The hotel has loads of character and our room was very comfortable.

The hotel has a restaurant that is very popular with the locals and understandably so due to the great food and the outdoor eating area...try the fried chicken as it's excellent, not to mention the great service.

We were made to feel very welcome by both management and staff and we would like to thank in particular Ferdinand the Hotel Owner / Manager and one of the waiters Domenic who couldn't do enough for us.

We highly recommend this hotel and plan on visiting again.

Well done!!

Regards,

Mr. Oakley (remember the T-shirt?)

Booked direct a room for my wife and myself to attend a friend's birthday party in Graz. Unfortunately, last minute my wife couldn't make it for health reasons. The hotel management as well as friendly was very generous and despite giving me a double room, they just charged for a single. Everything was spotless. Bedding was very comfortable. The hotel setting while not central is delightful. Breakfast copious. Parking abundant. All in all, highly recommended.
