This a&o in beautiful Graz is located right by the main railway station. It’s the perfect base from which to explore the city’s gorgeous surroundings by train. From here, you can walk to all the sights; the tramway stops right outside your door. There are 119 cosy single, double, family, and multi-bed dorm rooms. It also features tabletop football, billiards, a bar and book swap, a children’s corner, and a meeting room. And when we say centrally located – well, we mean it: Eggenberg Palace is just 15 minutes away.

The rooms were very large, but the size of the TV was just a joke. The rooms were also very thinly soundproof and you would wake up early in the morning to the cleaning staff in the hallway.
Unauthorized persons can gain access to the hotel; a strange, obviously homeless man knocked on our door at 8am on Saturday morning and asked if he and his wife could sleep in our room...
Breakfast was OK, but nothing more, the buffet was not regularly refilled and the tables were often left rearranged.

We had already stayed in another A&O hostel and knew what to expect. For a vacation where you don't spend much time in the hostel but rather out and about in the city, the A&O is a good choice. The rooms were equipped as described and clean, there was the option of using the shared kitchen and washing up on site.
You can easily reach the city on foot and the main train station is right next door, and we were also able to store our luggage in the luggage room before check-in and after check-out for free.
The breakfast on the first day was catastrophic, even though we were there 2 hours before breakfast ended there was hardly any choice, the cutlery looked as if it hadn't been washed at all and no member of staff took care of it even when we asked.
The next day we went straight to breakfast at 7 a.m. and it was much better.
Overall, though, I would definitely recommend it.

We (family of 5 + dog in a 6 person room) were overall satisfied with our stay. The place is quite basic but this is what we expected. We took a walk into the old town, which was around 20mins. The room was clean and generally comfortable. The breakfast was pretty poor - really low quality products - this I would not recommend.

I book a single room but the fact is there are 2 single beds in the room. Not sure if it is used really as single room or they gave me a big room because it wasn't fully booked.
Either way, it is nice to stay in spacy single room. Yes it is very spacy.

Attached bathroom is also gigantic. yes it is ensuite. You can use rope for hanging your washing. Hair dryer is also equipped in the bathroom.

The reason I chose AO is the location.
I had to take early train to head back to airport next morning. I wanted to stay very close to the train station rather than city center. If you want to stay in central, do not choose a&o Graz Hauptbahnhof.
Also there is another hotel right next to the station. It is kind of connected to the station. If you really need to stay close to the station, a&o Graz Hauptbahnhof is 1 or 2 blocks away and the block is rather huge.

There is tram station right in front of a&o Graz Hauptbahnhof, hence it is very easy to get to city central. I actuall walked back from central to a&o Graz Hauptbahnhof later that day. So location is good.

Towel, linen, TV and wi-fi are included but no drink, you can find coffee at lobby but it is not free. (2 euro)
The plan I chose didn't include breakfast but you can have it for 7 euro.
I checked out a&o Graz Hauptbahnhof early and didn't have a chance to take a look at dinig space.

There is cozy space next to recetion for guests to chill out, which is nice. There is a big table so that you can work on laptop.

My stay here was quite ok but no one responded to my email query although I sent it several times. Don't expect good service from them. Also it took a long time to check in in spite of it wasn't so crowd.

Overall, it was rather nice experience but I don't think I would rather try another place when I come back to Graz.

Very disappointing in many aspects. First, impossible to join them beforehand, they do not answer messages via booking (even after 10 days) and never answer the phone. I wanted to ask them about what we needed to bring as sheets, because yes, if you don't have your own, you pay an extra. Basically you pay an extra for everything in this hostel : bedsheets, early check in, late check out, if you need a fan 10 euros ! business is business. So you know, they have the pillow and feather bed and you need bedsheets and pillow case if you can (or sleeping bag). NO lockers in the rooms so no way to protect your stuff, as a result some things "disappeared" from my toiletry bag, only realized once at home and not happy about it. Kitchen is very limited, basic. Only hostel in Graz so I guess they don't care about doing better. Don't bother asking for a bottom or top bed, it's first come first serve basis. Hot in the rooms, hostel oriented to the south so the sun hits all day long. Oh, and people are supposed to take off their sheets when they leave but most don't, so it's hard to know which bed is free when you arrive!!

Positive: The staff was really good and makes up for the poor hostel experience, nice and helpful, thanks guys. Tram stop by the hostel, few minutes walk from train station. Or 20' walk to city centre, easy. 6/8- beds dorms are big.

The hostel is very near the train station (5 minutes walking). It is 20 minutes walking distance from the main city center but you can get tram just around the corner from the hostel which run very frequently & till mid-night - so it is easy commute.
The hostel has good breakfast, vending machines, friendly staff, spacious rooms, clean bathroom facilities. All in all, I found this a very good value for money place to stay.

I can only warmly recommend the a&o Hostel Graz to anyone looking for affordable accommodation in Graz without having to forego cleanliness and comfort. The beds still seemed very new and were comfortable. The bathroom and toilet were immaculately clean and there was even soap and shower gel. The optional breakfast buffet was extensive and served in a very nicely decorated room.

The assigned double room number 107 on the 1st floor was on the one hand under-equipped and on the other hand not cleaned properly enough. Specifically, there was only a completely outdated flat screen TV with a screen size of around 15 inches, which was completely unsuitable for watching TV in a practical and relaxed manner from the bed. The existing radiator was extremely poorly cleaned. There was already a very thick layer of dust under the radiator grille, but there was also a very thick layer of dust between all the radiator slats. We had the impression that this radiator had never been cleaned at all, otherwise it should not have looked like this. I am allergic and therefore we could not turn on the radiator when it was completely dusty, otherwise I would have had to fear unforeseeable allergy consequences. The night spent in this room was a very unpleasant one, especially for me and also for my wife. For this reason, we no longer intend to choose the a&o Hotel in Graz as our accommodation again. In addition, my wife and I are of the well-founded opinion that the a&o hotels in Germany are much better equipped and cleaner than those in Austria. Therefore, there is a fundamental need for improvements at the a&o hotels in Austria.

In general, the A&O is ok - the rooms are small and already a bit worn out, the bathroom is half clean, but already has some mold stains, the bed was clean and comfortable. Location is also quite ok, close to the train station, ie not a particularly nice area, quite noisy but close to public transport. Staff very friendly and helpful. So all in all: Absolutely nothing special, but cheap and functional.

But what really bothers me and I will therefore no longer use A&O: A&O gives the feeling "you're staying cheap, so save your entitlements and be glad you're allowed to sleep here."
During our stay the elevator was broken. I can’t imagine that in a serious hotel the only elevator just stays out of operation for a whole weekend, but well, here you save money and then you just walk.
So with the luggage to the third floor to discover that "for safety reasons" the windows may not be opened (max. Tilting). Here you have to say that there is no air conditioning in the A&O and this summer was very hot - on our visit a weekend with 32°C. A wonderful feeling like in a sauna.
So walk back to reception, asked what you could do there and get the key to "unlock" the window. So again on foot up, unlocked, keys brought back down and again to the room...
And what annoys me here: "For security reasons"??? Did I then also send this question to A&O by email after my return, with a slight wink, what exactly are the security reasons that it is only allowed to open the windows in exceptions? There is nothing dangerous there, of course, a completely normal building with normal windows - that is complete nonsense, but you probably want to prevent smoking in the rooms.
And it annoys me: I don't pay and I don't want to be treated like a 16-year-old who is mistrusted and conveyed that HE should be grateful to be able to stay here.

Oh yes, of course there was no answer to my request, but I received a survey from A&O, what my stay was like. Well, it couldn't be filled out because the link goes nowhere and you get an error message. Completes everything perfectly...;)

Kind of like the stay anyway, A&O eats net quite as importantly as you think, but they strive to give you the real Hostel feel of the 1990s. What I no longer need in 2024...

During our stay at a&o Graz Hauptbahnhof, we had a wonderful and positive experience. The hotel's location was incredibly convenient, being right next to the main train station, making it easy to explore the city and beyond. The rooms were clean, comfortable, and well-maintained, providing us with a relaxing and cozy atmosphere after a day of sightseeing.

The staff at a&o Graz Hauptbahnhof were friendly, welcoming, and always ready to assist us with any questions or requests we had. Their hospitality added to the overall pleasant stay and made us feel at home.

We also appreciated the excellent amenities provided by the hotel, such as the free Wi-Fi, which allowed us to stay connected throughout our trip. Additionally, the breakfast offered was delicious and provided a great start to our day.

Overall, our stay at a&o Graz Hauptbahnhof exceeded our expectations, and we highly recommend it to anyone looking for a comfortable and enjoyable stay in Graz. We look forward to returning in the future.

Yes, I think there is a car park adjacent to the hotel. I'm not sure if any special rates might be available for hotel guests, but perhaps you could contact the hotel and ask them, before you arrive.
