A beautiful renovated castle sitting high on the hill overlooking the town of Salzburg. An easy walk into old town using the lift at the nearby museum. The room was spacious and nicely decorated with doors opening out onto the castles lovely gardens. The views...More
My new wife and I booked our wedding night here and couldn't have been more pleased. It was perfect! So perfect, that we ended up staying an extra 2 nights. Sabrina and the entire front desk staff were incredibly helpful and polite. The views of...More
I stayed for four nights and couldn't have had a more pleasant stay. The staff was very accommodating, the ambiance old Europe, and the grounds were beautiful. My room was comfortable with an outstanding view. I would have stayed longer but their schedule wouldn't permit.
My wife and I stayed here for 3 nights, and found everything from the room, the facilities and restaurant to be 5 star quality. The location is perfect for sightseeing old Salzburg, but we also enjoyed the fabulous views from our room and just listening...More
Our friends stayed here and recommended that, at the very minimum, we have a meal here. So, we made a reservation for lunch and when we arrived we were the only couple. Needless to say, it felt like our own private meal with first class...More

For a Luxury Christmas Holiday in Salzburg I would recommend the Hotel Sacher or the Hotel Goldener Hirsch. At the Sacher it is very important to book a riverside (old city view) room! Both hotels are right in the center from where you can explore the entire old city by your own. And both Hotels are exactly what you expect from luxury hotels. The Moenchstein is out of the center, for me old fashioned and usually too fare to walk and not worth 5 stars. Also in winter, it can be icy and slippery at the mountain where the hotel is located. The elevator from the M 32 is an option but is not operating every day in winter. Take the Salzburg Card if you are going to visit a lot.

Yes I have .... in fact just last month and I recommend this beautiful property to all if you do not mind the walk as it is perched up on the hill giving you a beautiful view of the city . There is a lift from the Museum which takes you down to the city and the walk from the hotel to the museum is through the woods not more then 10 mins . If you want peace n quiet coupled with excellent service and the charm of staying in a castle you r in the right place .
If you mean visiting the birthhouse of Mozart and the house he occupied later on, we just went there and bought tickets. It was like $20 per person and everything is explained in English. Does this answer your question? Best
